I am BEYOND excited to feature an old IG yoga friend of mine from the good old days (circa 2016 or so.) Can't believe we have been connected for 10 years! We bonded over flying crow pose eons ago and have been supporting each other from afar ever since. Jo is talented, lovely, and strong, and you should check her out!
This week is fairly straightforward (you're welcome 😁) although the arm lines can be a bit tricky. Swipe for my video!

✨Camera is on a short tripod
✨ Warm up arms and shoulders for a bind and standing hamstring and glutes
✨ Cross back leg over front leg at the ankle (flip your foot to balance on top of toes)
✨ Lock out your standing leg and hinge with a straight spine
✨Top arm hand is over bottom arm hand
✨ Tuck your chin toward your legs, gaze is down
✨ Hide your face behind your arm

Upper body workout flow 💪🏼🫠

We have had a this last whip (does anyone know the official name?) on our low hanging fruit skills list (stuff that we probably could learn in one practice) for a long time but haven't been able to risk the inevitable falls of learning for a few months now.
Finally felt ready to tackle it and it's surprisingly straightforward to base but pretty weird and confusing to fly! Still need to figure out the full skill with the charge from bird. My arms got huge bruises in the first 60 seconds of trying so we bailed lol.
Here's a flow including several demanding flyer transitions including a cartwheel into biceps stand and a transition to needle (we didn't think this out well putting the new skill at the end 🤪)

Back on the handstand 🚂
If you've been following me for a while you know that handstands used to be my obsession. I trained them most days a week and constantly was chasing after some sort of goal.
Fast forward 10 years later and I have a very nuanced relationship with them. I want to work them enough to still have them in my bag of tricks but I'm definitely not intensely focused these days. I just think it's interesting how things evolve over the years. Last year I had a goal to get back my 1 minute straight hold and I managed to do it right at the end of the year! I have nothing on my radar right now but we'll see if that changes!

Balancey Flow!
This entire flow was inspired by the amazing duo @acroflying - it's the first time we have attempted one of their class flows from beginning to end. They make it look SO easy but this flow definitely has several challenging moments 💥 We loved the entrance and exit!

New Skill for us!
Throne ➡️ Tarzan ➡️ Throne
@acro_onthefly and I have this thing where if we are having trouble making a skill work, we can often unlock it if we combine it with something harder 🤣
Our Tarzan whop to throne has always been hit or miss and finicky. After working some pops into whops with @acro.nomad at @tourducraigfest I realized that I do a lot better job on my part when I'm just tossed into the Tarzan 🤔🤪 It's all too easy to overthink my swing when I initiate it.
So I convinced @acro_onthefly that we could totally do these safely. And it only took 10 minutes of progressions to hit it twice. I think that's pretty great considering we have probably only practiced icarian 5 times together since December. Woo hoo! So proud of our tenacity, teamwork, and patience 💪🏼
