⚔️ 𝐍𝐎𝐍-𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 ⚔️ 🤍 PRE-ORDER VIA @metalabel__ NOW 🤍 🔗 link in bio 𝙉𝙤𝙣-𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨, the debut book from LAN Party (@bennakim & @benoit.tokyo ), is a collection of essays, short stories, interviews and visuals that explores the figure of the NPC as a cultural symbol, internet trope, social mirror, and conceptual vessel. The book gathers the contributions of eight theorists, curators, artists, journalists and game modders, and is one of the first efforts at assembling disparate ideas and explorations of what the NPC is, what it does, and how it might even speak back. Through it, we explore what the NPC phenomenon reveals about our own humanness in the age of Big Tech and AI accelerationism. From ramen joints to retro arcades, @benoit.tokyo maps a Tokyo that runs on crate digs, café lattes and fighting game combos. Benoît is a Tokyo-based producer, writer and curator working across new media art and internet culture. He co-founded LAN Party, a curatorial duo focused on digital art, gaming and internet subcultures, and works with @mutek.jp as a content strategist. For our IRL Guide to Tokyo, Benoît shares nine spots across the city, from a Sasazuka coffee shop co-founded by a FWB alum to a Bakurocho gallery dedicated to digital art. 1. @menottis_tokyo 2. @flotsambooks 3. ✨👨🏼‍💻i was commissioned to write a guide-style editorial for M+ Museum (@mplusmuseum ) on Ryuichi Sakamoto (@skmtgram )’s ‘seeing sound, hearing time’, now live on the museum website. if you’re planning to go, this should help you navigate it. the legacy exhibition is a selection of key works alongside a series of events (vinyl listening sessions, film screenings, etc), dedicated to the work of one of the most influential figures in contemporary creation. tysm for the opportunity 🫴🏼🤍 #ryuichisakamoto #mplus #hongkong #contemporaryart
