AN Interior Spring/Summer 2026 is here! Our 29th issue gets away from it all: We travel to five remote residences, from Greece to Saint Kitts, Upstate New York, Santa Fe, and Valle del Bravo. The cover story is special. We visit the Schnabel house designed by Frank Gehry, who died in December. Completed in 1989, the compound has been lovingly renovated by its current owner, Thomas Safran, as seen in photographs by Zara Pfeifer (@zarapfeifer ). Elsewhere, check out kitchen & bath products for your next commission and see a special section of the hottest releases from the spring design fair circuit. We also highlight emerging designers, dip into listening rooms, tour great projects, and share an interview with bathhouse expert Ali McQuaid Mitchell of Futurestudio (@wearefuturestudio ). Don’t miss a glimpse into Taller Bofill’s La Fabrica thanks to doublespace photography (@2spacephoto ); an essay about the work of Wenche Selmer, a midcentury Norwegian woman architect, with photographs by Max Creasy (@maxcreasy ); and a back-page Mad-Lib by FOR SCALE’s David Michon (@for___scale @david___michon ). Designed by Studio Loutsis (@studio_loutsis ), the issue packs a colorful punch. Hit the #linkinbio to order your copy online or buy one from one of our stockists. You can also pick up a complimentary copy at Afternoon Light (@afternoonlight ) in New York. Subscribe now to get on the list for the next one! Happy reading. #architecture #interiors #design #magazine

Are you ready? The annual platform to celebrate design across the city, NYCxDESIGN, is here. Already, a whirlwind of exhibitions and talks are in full swing while invitations and info about even more festivities are still pouring in. We hunted through them all to find what we’re most excited to attend—in addition to our own events (#linkinbio to view AN’s activations). From exhibitions at @solidobjectives ’s and @tankhouse ’s 144 Vanderbilt Avenue to a multi-species approach to design to a show on incense holders, there’s much to see, much to do. Eyewear brand @LAEyeworks shook up the optometry scene with striking, gender-defying ad campaigns in the ’80s. Greg Gorman’s black and white photography captured the likes of Andy Warhol, RuPaul, and Debbie Harry, reshaping eyewear as a beautiful accessory. For the new flagship in Los Angeles, the brand continues to put a new perspective on the conventional, tapping local office @egarchla for a cavelike spin on retail design. @sksappliances , the brand formerly known as Signature Kitchen Suite, opened a new showroom in Chicago’s The Mart. The industrial shell is given a tech-forward, immersive makeover by @pierolissoni . The design applies a theatrical touch to the showroom—in layout as well as aesthetics. What if an office was designed for working less? At the new office for technology company Antiwork, toiling is, as the brand’s name suggests, not the point. Instead, the company’s commitment to working less by working smarter guides the playful yet efficient office in New York’s Dumbo neighborhood, designed by @float.studio . The first reference images for the design: the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie. The 64th edition of the international furniture fair, @isaloniofficial , welcomed 316,342 visitors to Milan from across 167 countries. This year, the fair continued to evolve itself as more than a trade show; in addition to its biannual spotlight on kitchen and baths, the fair introduced a section dedicated to collectible design, Salone Raritas, as well as the unveiling of Salone Contract 2027, a curatorial masterplan designed by Rem Koolhaas and OMA. As such, foot traffic was up this year compared to the previous year by 4.5 percent. Large crowds and the expo halls’s never-ending footprint task designers and architects with creating a booth that stands out but also navigates the noise and chaos of the exhibition. This year’s best booths created interiors within interiors, a place to shed the mayhem outside and step into a miniature world. As the jetlag recedes, along with the rush of endorphins from zipping from one event to the next, we bid arrivederci to another Milan Design Week. Throughout the frenetic week, an impulse to unplug united many of the exhibitions, including Prada Frame’s symposium on the nuances of image production in an AI-dominated world and Lina Ghotmeh’s labyrinth for MoscaPartners Variations 2026. The emphasis on being present and engaged marks a timely response to the increasing emphasis on digital reproductions, deep fakes, and algorithmically driven content. The exhibitions that stand out now that the fanfare has died down taps into this theme, in addition to material research and unique ways to engage sites. Swipe through for some of AN Interior’s favorite exhibitions from Milan Design Week and read the full list at the #linkinbio.
