Thanks to everyone who made it to the opening 🙏 Loose Grip will be open to the public this Sunday 5/17 from 11-6 and then by appointment only (schedule via email or DM) 144 Vanderbilt Ave #3E Brooklyn, NY Loose Grip is a group exhibition taking place with- in a two bedroom apartment at 144 Vanderbilt Ave in Brooklyn, NY developed by @tankhouse and designed by @solidobjectives The exhibition began with the opportunity to inhabit the space, an apartment not typically used for exhibition and unfolded organically from there. The artists included are those whose practices resonate with one another through material engagement and a commitment to making that remains close to the hand. “At a certain point youʼre in the weeds with it, and the next thing you know, youʼre out the other side. Itʼs a ride you donʼt step off of, you just learn how to stay on. Thatʼs where the discoveries happen. There is no outside position, only the act of staying with it long enough for something to emerge. The works in Loose Grip span different materials and disciplines but are united by a shared approach: each piece made intuitively by the hand of the artist, without distance or delegation. Process-led and materially direct, no separation no fluff. Taking its title from a phrase that suggest both control and release, Loose Grip gestures toward a way of working that is tentative and not rigid, open to variation, friction and discovery. @lukemalaney @adma_cutts @hideousthings @quinn_msherman #richardsnyder @miamikunt305 @danielericweiss @mavridis.pan @louis.sarowsky 📷 @jackdemarzophoto Press release and full work list available upon request via DM or email [email protected]

No Dice 26 1/2” x 18” x 22 1/4” cherry, pine, copper, paint, oil/wax Made this piece inspired by a spot I tried skating back in 2017 while filming for @trafficskateboards full length, unfortunately, no dice. Failure is part of skateboarding. So when @vince.skelly reached about this exhibition he was curating, Form Follows Spot, this spot felt like the perfect fit. The spot no longer exists . Form Follows Spot explores the tactile relationship between architectural details and how skateboarders interpret space. Through functional and non-functional works, the exhibition deconstructs iconic skateboarding landmarks into their fundamental geometric parts. Architectural details are the fine-print of urban design—often overlooked by pedestrians, but essential for skateboarders navigating the city. They aren’t just decorative; they are the functional DNA that shapes how a space is used, inhabited, and reclaimed. Opening Thursday, February 26 from 6–9PM: Form Follows Spot - organized by Vince Skelly (@vince.skelly ) in support of Slow Impact (@slowimpactaz ).  The exhibition recontexualizes spots as sculpture through a series of functional and non-functional works. Opening Thursday, February 26 6–9PM Rocket Space 37 W Southern Ave Tempe, AZ Featured artists: Chris Mahonski   Mark Tan (@nintando ) Juan Obando (@juandavidobando ) Ryan Belli (@r.o.belli ) Alejandro Depass (@snyderdepass ) Vince Skelly (@vince.skelly ) Louis Sarowsky (@louis.sarowsky ) Raymond Molinar Luke Malaney (@lukemalaney ) Alexis Sablone (@suminaynay ) Photography by @connorrancan Special thanks to @ryan_lay and @spot_research
