These are some of my top record acquisitions old and new throughout 2022. Many new additions and a few mint-up’s. Thank you to all the shops, dealers, and friends who continue to connect me with music that I love. A few more words on the new releases (photo two): I did not expect to dig the @dangermouseblackthought album as much as I did, but it’s undeniably good. I’m still playing it. The @charlesstepney album is fantastic, as is @makayamccraven - In These Times. I’ve probably played @domiandjdbeck - Not Tight more than any other record this year. If you’re not feeling it, try again. The appeal is not the featured guests. @backwoodzstudioz keeps churning out amazing releases as does @potionsmusicnyc with another stellar Harry James record. @mishapanfilovmusic can do no wrong, I didn’t have enough space to display all of the high caliber projects he released this year. If you’re sleeping, wake up. @funknight nonstop. @theesacredsouls are being talked about enough that I don’t need hype their music, but I love them so much that I wear their merch. @ladynicolewray deserves every bit of shine that came her way this year, and I recommend a return to that album from early in the year if you need to wrap the year peacefully. I haven’t heard many folks talking about the @patenlocke record but it was a highlight for me. I revisited the Food Chain LP with @dillonmaurer repeatedly this year, already a classic. @jrawls82 quietly released one of my favorites this year. It’s just as strong as any Lone to the Cata- or other production from him over the years. @controllerseven has been extra prolific lately and every release has been fantastic. If I was posting tapes of the year, his work would be featured again, as the designer the cover art to the incredibly fun @buck65 - King of the Drums project. The @jazzanova_berlin & @djamir70 Strata rework album is incredible. I couldn’t recommend it more for DJs and dancers (@bbemusic & @180proofrecords just need to figure out how to design and ship records without the spine splitting) which brings me to @p_vine_raregroove_vga , multiple stellar releases in 2022 and always perfect shipping. Keep sharing good music. Happy new year.
