So many wonderful people have joined us for Caroling with the Stepneys for years,decades even. We are so excited to share these clips from @gennjackson and @winterrosewhite who have really become a part of our family and never miss spending Christmas Eve with us and we love them so much. Watching my family prepare for this moment was a really intense and emotional journey, but nothing could have prepared me for what I witnessed on stage that night. Every pluck of the string, stroke of a key, blast of the horn, strike of the drum, and note from a voice was coalesced into a transformative transmission of love. The love that connects us to God. They took my soul to the sky, to say the least, and I can only hope we are forever changed for it.
I'd like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of the magical and extraordinary musicians who gave their all to help bring this dream to reality for all of us; to the audience who danced and cried as the music pulsed through us, connecting all of us to the same frequency; to Giles Peterson and @weoutherefest for believing in this project and bringing all of us together; to my family who put their sweat, blood, and tears on the line in pursuit of this incredible legacy every day; and to my grandfather for continuously blessing our family from the beyond. I feel your presence and the growth of it every day.
We came together on that special day, and a message was indeed heard loud and clear.

IARC family @juniuspaulmusic and @makayamccraven are bringing the heat as only they can! This is bound to be one for the musical history books! Whew!!! We’re still recovering from a beautiful Tuesday on the Terrace. If you missed you… you really missed something. This small ensemble version of RC222 was a complete vibe! The weather was perfect! The music was amazing! The crowd was lovely! Please enjoy a few memories from this event. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY….. Please come back to the MCA on Sunday at 2:00. I can’t remember the last time I bought a newspaper! The nostalgia of it all is amazing to reconcile. I mean I remember when we anticipated it’s arrival like we currently jump to check alerts from our favorite influencer. If you were lucky enough to be featured in these pages of ink and dusty paper documentation, you felt a sense of pride that was unmatched. You bought several copies and told friends and relatives to pick up a few copies for your. You ripped out the article to carry it in your pocket to share just in case you ran into someone that hadn’t seen it. Then you property cut a few of them to add to a scrap book or to put in an actual frame. Finally several untouched copies were bagged for protection and stored in an old tote or crate to add to your family time capsule. It was a moment of accomplishment but it was also a moment that would solidify your place in history, posterity! Late last night I took a moment to run into Walgreens seeking lotion that was not trapped in a locked plastic cage. That was a fail! As I headed towards the exit in protest because I hate calling a disgruntled employee to release basic hygiene products, I noticed the newspaper stand and remembered the digital imprint my sisters and I had recently left in honor of our father’s legacy. They mentioned that the article would run in the paper on Saturday but did the really mean, the paper paper? I went to check. There were two left. I grabbed them swiftly before the imaginary crowd could swoop in and take them before I completed my investigation. I moved aside and flipped through the pages that were so sparse in comparison to those editions of my childhood. It felt kinda naughty to “preview” the relic instead of just buying it but what would I do with a paper lying around the house, I certainly wouldn’t read it! I chuckled for a moment as I’d recently wished I had one to pack some boxes but had to rely on old magazine pages instead. And then it happened! Five or six pages in, there we were, my sisters and I in full size glory, in the newspaper!! How cool was this? They even included a small picture of the old man himself. lol. Well, we had a time! We are so honored to have been invited to be a part of this series with our @intlanthem family, @worldwide.fm@rebuild_foundation and @soundrotation who blessed us with an amazing Stepney set like we’ve never heard before!! The wine was amazing and the tea was outstanding!! The crowd just radiated love and vibe of the venue was perfection and of course we went straight Chicago with some house grooves to light up the floor a bit. Simply incredible!! If you didn’t make it to this one, you really missed out. So make sure you come out to the MCA on Tuesday and the 27th as we continue to celebrate!!!
