The message is clear: climate action is business action: 🌱 96% of business leaders support moving from fossil fuels to renewables. 🌱In 2024, half of companies maintained their climate targets, while nearly 40% increased their ambition. Thank you London Climate Action Week! Highlights: 🌍The Millennium Seed Bank at Kew Gardens is chilling 2.4 billion seeds from wild plant species: flood-proof, bomb-proof, radiation-proof. Our Insurance safeguarding against species loss. 🇧🇷meeting Brazil’s Minister for Indigenous Peoples @guajajarasonia in person and hearing Indigenous voices at St. James’s Palace, where Prince William called for real, measurable land rights and Indigenous leadership in conservation. 🌱Rewilding, the picnic Sometimes the best strategy session is a walk in the park: literally. I shared a blanket and big ideas with Hannah Jones (ex-Earthshot CEO), Meagan Fallone (mountaineer and barefoot visionary), the ever-connecting Eugenia Carrara and others. The sisterhood is real. Because not all system change happens on stage, some of it begins on the grass, amongst friends.

#UNOC2025: I had the honor of taking part in the @unitednations Conference in France. The gathering of world leaders on 71% of the Earth’s surface: Our Ocean. So, what actually happened? Here’s my short recap on.. ..what Floated, What Sank, and What Still Needs Swimming Lessons: 🌊 High Seas Treaty! The High Seas Treaty has to reach the 60-country ratification mark, meaning it will enter into force by January next year. We are currently at 50 countries. If 10 more join before September, we’ll have a legally binding way to protect marine life in international waters from unchecked industrial activity. 🦦 The Nice Ocean Action Plan: Big Words, Small %s. Leaders adopted the “Our Ocean, Our Future: United for Urgent Action” declaration. Great news, especially for Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)... But let’s be real: we’re still protecting only ~8.3% of the ocean. We need 30% by 2030. At this rate? We might hit 10%..? The pledges were promising (French Polynesia, Chile, UK and others stepped up), but unless we scale rapidly and enforce rigorously, we’re swimming in circles. 👙 Don’t Touch My Bottom (Seriously). At least 37 countries have now called for a moratorium on deep-sea mining. France included. A huge win for ocean health. Unfortunately, the U.S. administration under Trump just signed an executive order to fast-track deep-sea mining. While half the room is shouting ‘Pause!’, the other half is already picking up the drill. 💸 Can we please stop pretending there’s no money? Every summit ends the same way: “insufficient finance.” Yet we’re still running an economic system built by Adam Smith and friends who didn’t exactly model planetary boundaries. The invisible hand of the market clearly isn’t lifting the tide for nature. We need a new system: one that puts ecological integrity at the center of value. 🌊 Heading to the UN Ocean Conference in Nice Honored to attend UNOC3 in support of Existence, and the Blue Green Future crew in sharing a science-based financial framework that values and accounts for living nature. In essence, a nature-positive economy recognizes the ocean for its vital ecosystem services. Yet today’s markets fail to price these benefits accurately. As a global commons, the ocean has no owner—so the costs of its care are left off the balance sheet. Without mechanisms to reward those who protect nature, or to charge those who degrade it, we remain locked in a system that externalizes environmental costs. It is entirely possible to invest in the right things and still achieve prosperity. The truth is, we need stronger incentive models—relying on policies alone is not enough. It’s time to elevate the role of positive reinforcement and position the carrot, not just the stick.. If you’re curious.. Iet’s connect!
