Come to my End-of-Residency Sharing of my ongoing solo research project,  𝓢𝓱𝓮 𝓢𝓹𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓼 𝓢𝓮𝓪 𝓢𝓱𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓼 𝓸𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓢𝓱𝓮𝓪 𝓢𝓸𝓻𝓮, taking place at ROSAS next week. 21-22nd of May at 15, aftertalks with @andrearodrigo___ and @alicevanderwielenhoninckx Confirm attendance by messaging me 🪄 Feel free to share this invitation with peers or colleagues who may be interested. About the work: She Spells Sea Shells on the Shea Sore is an ongoing choreographic concert/research by Júlia Rúbies Subirós exploring the feminised voice in Western culture through dance and vocal performance. Moving through figures such as Echo, Cassandra, the siren, Medusa, and Ophelia, the work examines how women’s voices have historically been shaped, silenced, and pathologized. Rather than portraying fixed characters, these figures emerge as shifting presences through movement, breath, speech, and song. The work seeks to fracture inherited narratives and uncover their disruptive potential. ** This public sharing marks the end of a research phase and the transition towards production, offering a glimpse into a work still in formation.**  🫶Credits: Mentors: @bojana_cvejic @carolmendonca Voice Mentorship: @jule.flierl , @noelacove Research compass: @eszternemethi - external eye: @dagmarteurelincx 🫶 Thank you: @veratussing , @sashimishimi_ , @shutterbugporter , @alessandrrobeito 🫀🫀🫀Support: Flemish Community (research grant), @workspacebrussels (BE), @kunstencentrumbuda (BE), @rosasdance ROSAS (BE), @desingelartscentre ON_OFF Space (BE), @kunstencentrumkaap @campo.nu , @kunstencentrumkaap (BE),@kaaitheater (BE), @hiros.be pool programme (BE), @demarkten de Markten (BE), @lacaldera_barcelona La Caldera (ES), @la_poderosa_bcn (ES).

𝐍𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐣 is a poet and a theatre and film practitioner from India, working as director, writer, performer, and researcher, with a particular interest in the expressive potential of gesture, movement, and interdisciplinary approaches. hrough his practice, Nitish Bhardwaj explores how performance can emerge from the body as gestures, combining theatrical, cinematic, and technological languages. His work continues to investigate rhythm, presence, and meaning, with hands and movement as central expressive instruments. During his residency at workspacebrussels he will continue his research project Hastas, in which the hand is the primary instrument of performing. 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐬 is a Sanskrit word for hands, or hand gestures. The projects builds on earlier explorations of hand gestures in different performances, as poetic and aesthetic material. After previous iterations, he now continues his research as a solo performer, while in dialogue and mentorship with dramaturg Bart Van den Eynde. In Hastas, the performance, he returns to the live body as an exploration to how hands can carry attention, memory, and intention on stage. Physical experiments and poetic text fragments allow meaning to emerge through gesture, rhythm, repetition, and stillness. 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟕 at 𝟓𝐩𝐦, there will be a work in progress presentation at workspacebrussels. A residency in collaboration with @haut_scene 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐀. 𝐋𝐨𝐤ø𝐲 (she/her) is a choreographer and performer from Norway based in Copenhagen. Since graduating from the Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2024, Lokøy has devoted herself to her dual choreographic projects, HÆKLET and Tearing Up. Deviating from choreographic scoring, her artistic practice actively engages with bodily distortion and emotional streams in the different works. 𝐀𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐃𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢 (she/her) is an interdisciplinary dance artist and performer from Greece, based in Copenhagen. She graduated from dance and choreography department of the Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2024. She has collaborated internationally with artists including Ottavia Catenacci, Rodrigo Andreolli, Maria Hassabi, Parini Secondo, Alma Söderberg, Cristian Duarte, Snorre Elvin, and Alice Martucci. Her artistic practice waves between performance and writing, often unfolding through the notions of texts and embodied research. 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐩 is an evocative exploration including scattered slide-shows of movements and strained breath. The practice contains suppressed emotions, the sensation of tearing up into eternity, as well as the desire for a release. The practice stems from the draining and exhausting experience of containing the need to cry. It manifests itself into the limbs and moves through distorted images of someone tearing up. Tearing as a way of breaking apart and slowly dissolving, with potential of withholding, as a resistance to shedding. An impossible quest, standing on the verge of overwhelm while the flood of tears approaches. The world of Tearing Up contains friction and self-regulation, where we look to the moments in-between our breaths, sighs and empty sobs. On 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟗, 𝟒𝐩𝐦 there will be a work in progress presentation. You are welcome to join, DM us to get on the list :) 📸 2: @louherrche 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵 & 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: @hannalokoy , @aikaterini.dimitrelli - 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥: @curlnoe - 𝘖𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘦𝘺𝘦: @la_lune_a_faim - 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵: @haut_scene , @workspacebrussels

𝐌𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐫 (1996) creates performative works that play with modes of address from both singing and contemporary dance. Born in Solothurn (CH) with Peruvian roots, she is currently based in Brussels. After being trained in music and singing, they completed a B.A. in contemporary dance at La Manufacture in Lausanne (CH), continued training at La Faktoria in Pamplona (ES), and received an M.A. from P.A.R.T.S. (BE). Mira is part of the Swiss based performance collective noDIN, together with Sophie Germanier, Dustin Kenel and Yadin Akira Bernauer. She loves karaoke. During their residency at workspacebrussels, Mira will work on her new project Funnel of Love. 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 is a performative research departing from a physical exploration of two voices: nature yodelling, a slow yodel style without lyrics, and the chanting of sports fans. In the focus lies the phenomenon of belonging through sound, collective expression of emotion and vocal techniques that reach/resonate through topographic, architectural and socio-cultural distances. A phenomenon that can be heard in the roar of the masses on the stadium’s terrace, in a “nationalist” cultural practice in the mountains, but also in the streets during protests. Fieldtrips in the city with friends searching for this vocal event build the departure point for performative reflections in the studio. There will be a work in progress presentation, with a feedback round, on 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟐. 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐕𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐤 studied Germanic Philology, Philosophy and Women’s Studies in Leuven, Antwerp and Paris. At this moment she is coordinator Performing Arts and Literature of the EUROPALIA arts festival in Brussels, and she teaches and researches Dance at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. She is a freelance dramaturg, guide at Middelheim Museum, advisor for NTGent/Care cure comfort lab, grief coach and mindful walk instructor. Katleen will continue her project Our Daily Death during her residency at workspacebrussels. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 explores new approaches to the art of mourning and mourning in art. The project aims to bring together the interdisciplinary art world and the funeral and bereavement sector through interactive discussions and other formats centred on substantive themes. Additionally, it explores what might constitute a suitable curatorial concept to open up these diverse areas of expertise to society. The sensory experience takes centre stage: from reason to emotion, from the private to the collective. During the residency, three round-table discussions will take place and an activation of the Onument in Laeken will be explored. 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐢 𝐌𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐚 born in Kinshasa, is a self-taught performance artist based in Brussels. Kongi’s work combines visual and corporeal languages, merging history and performance to explore the role of Black womxn in African and Western societies. Kongi’s art seeks to dismantle enduring prejudices and reclaim often-overlooked narratives.

𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐍𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐧 is a Lebanese-Egyptian multidisciplinary performance artist and scenographer based in Berlin. Nancy’s collaboration-based practice focuses on audiovisual archives and corpo-spatial dynamics. working across mediums of architecture, movement and voice, Nancy investigates politics of space, marginal bodies, and transnational solidarities.

𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐠 is a Taiwanese experimental musician based in Berlin. He built his sonic articulations from gravity objects, field recording, granulator instruments, feedback noise, radio, bluetooth speaker and electric magnetic field.

Together they will work on the piece Maayii ميّي  during their residency at workspacebrussels.
𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐢 ميّي is the common word for water, both in Congolese Lingala and Levantine Arabic. Maayii ميّي  is a piece that explores fluid ranges of anger, love, resistance, confrontation, ritual and solidarity. Drawing from the rhythmic structures of Dabke (folkdance of Bilad Al-Sham), along with repetitive stomps and gestures from central African practices, merged with experimental feedback loops, Cheng, Kongi, and Nancy create a space for collective processing in a world ravaged by greed and silencing. Maayii ميّي serves as a space for reflection and a platform for imagined liberation; an ode to our peoples in our geographies and the diaspora. On 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟖, there will be a 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤-𝐢𝐧-𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 sharing of Maayii ميّي . Welcome to join! DM us to book a spot.

𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋! @decoratelier_brussels and workspacebrussels launch an open call together, aimed at artists and collectives with a scenographic practice who wish to experiment and deepen their practice within the context of Decoratelier. ❓𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 is a workspace for scenography in Molenbeek. Scenography, ephemeral architecture and urban experimentation come together in large warehouses, connected by a central courtyard. Decoratelier’s activities are strongly shaped by its location: the warehouses invite experimentation, collaboration and encounters between artists, makers, students and local residents. How do we imagine shared spaces? Decoratelier explores processes in which spaces engage in dialogue with people, materials, places and history, or rather: how they mutually shape one another.
👀 a 𝟑-𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 research residency (𝟓–𝟐𝟑 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔) for an artist or collective based in Belgium or abroad, working on spatial practices in the performing arts. You will take a deep dive at Decoratelier in collaboration with the builders. The residency is context-specific: you do not arrive with an existing project, but with a research proposal. We are curious about diverse artistic vocabularies and ways of working, an experimental approach to scenography and use of space, ephemeral forms of building, etc. What the residency does not offer: scenographic support, space for rehearsal or finalising a production. 📝 More info & application via the link in bio or on our website! 📅 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞: 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟑𝟏 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭

𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋! workspacebrussels & @cultureghem are offering an artistic research residency in the public spaces of Abattoir in Anderlecht from Sept–Dec 2026. ❓𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐫 is a unique place. Here, many social issues become tangible: from poverty and lack of space to unemployment and access to education. These issues are brought to life in the stories of all the people who work tirelessly for their neighbourhood every day. Food is in the site’s DNA. From a weekly market attracting over 100,000 visitors and a slaughter line, through vegan ready meals and miso production, to the breeding of fruit flies that power an aquaponics farm: the site offers it all. 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐦 vzw taps into the potential of this vibrant meeting place through projects such as Ketmet, Brussels’ largest indoor playground on Wednesdays, and Dreamkitchen, cooking together with unsold fruit and vegetables from the market and dining under the city’s most beautiful roof. Cultureghem is committed to empowering the people who live and spend time here, to expanding their networks, and to helping translate their stories to a wider audience. 👀 We are seeking: an artist who is keen to engage with this unique place, and who is willing to set aside time for encounters, interaction and exchange. Eligible candidates: individual artists working in the performing arts (theatre, dance, performance, cross-overs) based in Belgium. 📝 More info & application via the link in bio or on our website! 📅 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞: 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟑𝟏 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – 𝟐𝟐:𝟎𝟎

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐮 𝐏𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐭 is a performance duo founded by 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐮 and 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧-𝐋𝐞𝐞. They explore the intersection of visual poetics, object theatre, and socially engaged performance. The duo’s practice bridges object theatre, documentary, and public engagement, often working in community spaces while reflecting on the dynamics of collaboration as both artistic and life partners. During their residency, Chun Shing Au and Carmen-Lee will continue their artistic research project //.𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧_𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬: 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭. It explores how creativity survives under suppression. They are currently investigating how women artists and cultural practitioners in former Czechoslovakia developed inventive strategies under political repression. Through 10 in-depth artistic conversations with Czech women artists who worked before 1989 — within institutions, at home, and in underground scenes — they uncover hidden methods of making, subtle resistance, and quiet forms of survival. What happens to art when it cannot speak openly? Where does performance live when there is no stage? How does creativity adapt when watched, limited, or silenced? 📸 1: Lukáš Veselý, @peterisviksna , 2: @hhk_alex 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵 & 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: @theatredupoulet (@chunshing_au & @carmennnnleeee ) - 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳: 𝘡𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘗𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘢 - 𝘝𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘳: @_michaellozano  - 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘳: @hhk_alex - 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵: @workspacebrussels
