⭐️ Best Newcomer 2025 ⭐️
•
What a way to ring in the new year! I’m honored that so many comedians who I admire thought to nominate me for this award alongside other incredibly talented newcomers to the Barcelona scene. Thank you all for taking a chance on me, I’ll do you proud in 2025!
•
PS. Did you know you can make collages on Instagram now? Has it always been that way? Should I be yelling at “youngsters” and “whippersnappers” to vacate my stoop? 👴🏼

✨ 2024 ✨

You’ve been a year of contrasts. I’ve opened up and I’ve withdrawn, spent many hours alone and many hours together, dedicated myself to new pursuits and held on tight to old habits.
•
The most important thing is that we try our best and that we share what we find beautiful with others. Whatever has brought you fulfillment this year, keep it up! In reaching for each other we draw closer to our selves. Happy new year, everyone. Enjoy these little windows into our big world. 🌎
Hey Birdies 🦜
Introducing Porter Grubbs, baby standup comedian! My resolution this year was to perform 5 minutes at an open mic… that was back in February, and since then I’ve done nearly 100 shows. 🎭
•
I’ve performed at bars and clubs all around Barcelona as well as Krakow, Atlanta, Savannah and even at an Episcopal church 👼🏼 (my jokes are church lady approved by the way… some of them)! Who knows where a new path will lead? Just take that first step!
•
To close out the year I’ll share clips of a few of my favorite moments from the past ten months. I’m sure next year I’ll look back and think blech 🤢 (that’s growth, right? right?!) … but for now I hope we can all appreciate our achievements and our creative expression. Happy holidays! 🎄

Special thanks to @lukemessinacomedy for his mentorship and to the team at @thecomedyclubhousebcn for all they do to foster a supportive environment for comedians in the city. There’s really something special about comedy here in Barcelona!
I love the inherent ✨drama✨ of architecture. Place a window slightly askew and the church looks like it saw a ghost. Stagger a cohort of chimneys along a slanted roof and suddenly they’re gossips passing secrets back and forth, the elders keeping an eye on the street from their second story windows. 👥
Hey Instagram! 👋🏼
I’ve been away from the feed for a while, so here’s a few photos of friends I captured when I was visiting home this summer. (I still haven’t let them go.)
•
If you’ve kept up with my stories you’re probably aware that I’m a (👶🏼) standup comedian! I’m still incubating, but I started a new handle just for my comedy, so go follow @gorterprubbs if you’re down to 🤡
•
I’ll share clips of material, roast battles, promo and the general silliness that you’ve come to expect from me over the years. Thank you to everyone who’s nourished my inner goof and kudos to those who stood strong in its wake. 💪
Porter Grubbs is an artist and performer who works in dance, theatre and comedy. His voice draws from his roots in the American South as a queer person, and his dance is, at its essence, an expression of the joy of movement. Come see Porter bust a move tonight at @mosty_restaurant . Doors 8:30, show at 9:00. 🔥🔥

No matter where you are, I hope you give yourself the time to celebrate the world around you, to notice the magic in things. It’s always there, usually slipping past us on our way to wherever, sometimes revealing itself in a glimpse of someone else’s moment or in a miniature rainbow spewing forth like a pocket universe from a watering hose. 🌈

Enjoy these pictures of Catalonia in Autumn. 🍂
Seven years ago I moved from Zaragoza, Spain to Atlanta. I told myself I’d stay here for two years and then move on to the next thing, the better thing. But I had so much work to do and so many people to meet that I stayed here way beyond that timeline. I’m so thankful for all the time and space I’ve spent here and all the brilliant people I’ve shared it with.

Soon, in about a month and a half, I am moving back to Spain! I’ll be in Barcelona, a few hours away from where I lived before. This time I’m moving with no self-imposed deadlines. It’s not a layover, I’m no longer perpetually in transit to somewhere better. This time I’m curious, excited, a little scared, but mostly eager be back in an old and new place, to tend to my roots and shake up my branches. And I’m grateful to be moving completely of my own volition, not being tossed about within the chaos of the universe.
•
Thank you, Atlanta, for holding me. Thank you, friends and chosen family, for holding me. I hope that I have extended just as much support as I’ve received in my time here. ❤️🤗
💞 On Pride 💞
•
I knew the word “gay” as an insult before I knew it had anything to do with love. Little Porter spent so much time and energy hating and hiding the parts of himself that could be interpreted as such - his voice, his gestures, his mannerisms.
•
But I’ve been lucky to know love in many forms, and I’ve been fortunate to have a rich inner world and many means of expression. There were quiet allies in my adolescence who encouraged me in their own subtle ways to accept my heart as it presented itself. That journey of acceptance is lifelong, I think, and the best part of any adventure is ✨the friends we make along the way.✨

My life now is very much what I saw when I was young. I couldn’t have weathered any trials or taken the necessary risks to get here without love, encouragement, and support from so many people. Pride is about trusting our inner worlds. Pride is about listening to our hearts, our bodies, and our minds, and finding the way towards a healthy dialogue within ourselves. I wish a rich imagination and vibrant conversation for all my fellow 🏳️🌈 queer 🏳️🌈 folk, young and old. Happy Pride! Enjoy these pics of Scotland in the Spring. 🪻🌼
