Everyday I trained, everyday I gave it everything and with the help of @theptbarn coaching me and the fabulous facilities down at @nuclearwildforest and the running training from @brentwoodbeaglesac it paid off I am the 2024 World Champion 🌍 for the 3k course 40-44🥇my race went to plan and I executed it just enough to get the win by 3secs from the very able @sheretovev with @thibaultwillaert hitting the bronze! When I crossed the line and I was told I was currently in first position I couldn’t believe it and with @ocr_jamesburton still to finish and in the wave behind me there was a very real chance that the dream could disappear but I was fortunate that the 1st place remained and I got to celebrate topping the podium later that day! The pressure had been on after both kids had also podiumed @ukocr.izzyx 🥈 and @cam_ocr 🥉but I pulled it off and now can’t wait to defend in Sweden although I’ll be in the 45-49 category by then 🤣. Biggest thanks has to go to @evyoung12 for the support both on the day and before! @nuclearwildforestteam@britishobstaclesports@worldobstacle
Portugal 2025 OCREC standard course, felt a lot more comfortable going into the race today! Had a fun moment on the Portuguese icons rig where I slipped on the first attachment but managed to hang from one hand and finally recover, failed the spear but otherwise everything went well! 1st place in my age category and 2nd fastest Brit. Well done to @pedroholga 🥈we had a tight race! Did I mention that my calf hurts! 🤣 @theptbarn@nuclearwildforestteam@nuclearwildforest@britishobstaclesports
@hyroxnl put on the European Hyrox Championships and @elambert1977 and I gave the doubles a go this is how it went:
✅ - Got to Maastricht OK the biggest doubt in my mind 🤣 ✅ - Made the podium for the 40-49 age group ✅ Qualified for the World Championships by placing in the top 2 ✅ Secured a time of less than one hour - 58 minutes and 22 seconds ✅ Along with @phoenixdas showed that @britishobstaclesports members are top athletes ✅ Beat the current World Champions (@danny_a_123 and Chris Garcia you guys pushed us right to the end) There was also a few failures ❌ Eddie’s ability to make the podium 🤣 ❌ My ability to throw a Wall Ball 😬 Anyways big thank you to Scotty PT @theptbarn for coaching me and @deanwjohnson1973 for beasting me every Sunday @nuclearwildforest@nuclearwildforestteam also thanks to @evyoung12@theyluvv._izzyx and @cam_ocr for being the best family 😁
Very happy to win Masters athlete of the year at Brentwood Beagles Athletics club, particularly happy to be at such a great club with great coaching, thanks to Paul and his team, plus so many talented youngsters coming through! It is great to see them get better and better can wait to hopefully see them compete at the very top level in the future! #brentwoodbeagles
Another day, another race 12k 🇸🇪World Champs, body felt good from the exploits of the 3k and surprisingly my shoulder felt better than it had since hurting it, I felt good but knew it would need to be a monumental effort to beat @staffan_wen the 🥇from the 3k, I was also determined to not let him get away early, I again found myself running in 2nd but by the time the short ropes rig came about I knew I had to let Staffan go to avoid blowing up and giving Manuel Marchand a chance, for the first 8-9k I could always see him following and knew that one mistake would let 2nd place slips I focused and made myself keep going even when the head was telling me to rest! I finished with a 90 second gap on Manuel, not quite enough for a penalty but fortunately not needed. Staffan had run away with it with a 3 minute lead, what an amazing athlete. We go again in Spain 🇪🇸 next year for the European Championships, all the best in training to all the 45-49 year old guys! Third quickest Brit again which secured me a place in the National Men’s team with @hunterasintohunt and @ocr_jamesburton Before I started training with Scotty PT from @theptbarn I’d never won an international medal, I now have 2 🥇and 3 🥈in OCR and 1 🥈in Hyrox I can’t thank this man enough!
2025 OCR World Championships 3k what a great competition, I knew I had my work cut out with such great competition starting on the line with Manuel Marchand the European 🥉place who I’d raced earlier this year but also the likes of @ramzey_ocr@elambert1977 and Rob Boarder all strong competition from the 🇬🇧OCR scene, @jesustorralbaguerrero and @elioroets were also going to be tough competition, along with a number of the local 🇸🇪guys @jonasahlsson@pofager were all strong contenders and capable of pulling out great results but the number one seed and European Champion from 2024 was the guy I was most concerned with - @staffan_wen . For the first kilometre or so I found myself in 2nd position with a gap to third but a small error on the first Toroz rig meant Staffan got a 10 second lead on me and that was it he was gone, I was running by myself until the top of the ski slope when I realised Manuel had put in a humongous effort and closed the gap from about 30 seconds to a couple of seconds, it wasn’t until the next rig that I was able to get a gap, unfortunately Manuel got held up by a slower runner and I was able to increase the lead, I then put my foot down went through the last Toroz rig efficiently and got the laser gun in 5 seconds, two rigs to go which were smooth meant as long as I got up the quarter pipe first time silver was mine and I run to the line with a 14 second gap between myself and Manuel a lot closer than I would’ve liked! Kudos to Staffan who had a massive 47 second lead! Very happy to also be third quickest Brit over the line. This was all after a shoulder injury which meant I hadn’t been able to practice obstacles for the last four weeks but thanks to @just_nicola_gillespie for the physio and @theptbarn for the training to get me through! Also massive shout out to @ukocr.izzyx and @cam_ocr who ran brilliant races and the team manager @evyoung12 😉@nuclearwildforestteam@britishobstaclesports@uk.ocr
@nuclearwildforest have done it again putting a top race on, thanks Sam for stepping up and filling in! 26 obstacles over 3k including some testing carries to get people ready for Sweden (The net crawl was also added in with thoughts of World Champs ahead) Found myself in an unfamiliar position after the first three obstacles, in front of @walshy4972 expected him to take me at any moment but held on to the rig just before the wreck bag carry, about 500 metres before the end, congrats on your 🥇I held on for 2nd with @ocr_jamesburton in the next wave of racers taking third! Was good to match @ukocr.izzyx 🥈for podium position, she looked exhausted after a tough race with @shy__shy_03 🥇Set myself the challenge of getting to spray a bottle of Prosecco on the podium this year and happy to say that challenge has been achieved, thanks @_accountabilitycorner for that nice touch! @3km_ocr_seriesuk@britishobstaclesports@nuclearwildforestteam
@spartanraceuk today for the U.K. series seriously impressed by the family, @cam_ocr back on the podium with 🥉and a great run, @ukocr.izzyx stepping up to the adult race and winning the age group race overall despite a spear miss, the biggest plaudits go to @evyoung12 who got on the start line for the first time in two years and gave it everything, the biggest bonus is that she didn’t injure herself and hopefully will be on a few more start lines in the future! Finally, I was running well in the Elite race before missing the spear which took me from 5th to 7th and because I did the worst 30 burpees ever I went from 7th to nowhere 🤣🤣 - @nuclearwildforestteam #spartan #ocr #spartanrace
So many nerves before the 3k race, started the race with the other top seeds and bolted up the steps, was in 2nd place at this point and then we went on a little run by the time we got to the first rig I had a small lead and heard the bell go for 2nd place about 8 seconds after I rung it, canyon rig straight after which was smooth and then over to the slack line, quick breather before I went across first time! Spear can always be dodgy but it went in and off I went thankful to see that 2nd place was still making his way to the spear throw, a nice downhill run before we got out of the wooded land and into open fields and scorching sun, gibbons rig and slider rig went smoothly and was really starting to gap the other runners which I was thankful for later, a quick cool off in the canal before ball tree a great obstacle and completed smoothly, low rig looked difficult but I cleared the obstacle relatively easily although the arms were starting to feel pumped! Next few obstacles were fine but as I I got into the coffee bean rig my arms were feeling pumped and I had to rest, luckily the gap that I had built meant no one else was there, eventually got through smoothly, on to the rope climb which again was smooth and my arms had recovered, balance next and I must’ve wasted a minute at the balance beams at which point I saw the French guy catch me, I cleared my head and got it the next time on to the hills and I had planned to bound up these running all the way but with 32 degree heat it was more of a run walk before taking on the final obstacle the high to low Toroz rig, flew through knowing I just had to run hard now, I gave it everything finishing in first in that group and 2nd overall. Massive thanks to @angryflamingoocr and @wargraveviking for sorting me out at the finish line I was a dehydrated mess! Thanks to @theptbarn for all the coaching as well as the videos (Wendy also 📹) Well done to @ramzey_ocr on your 4th place that podium is coming! Well done to all of Team U.K most of all well done to @ukocr.izzyx and @cam_ocr and @evyoung12 for the support @britishobstaclesports@nuclearwildforestteam@nuclearwildforest@ocreurochamps
My first @spartanraceuk not competing just going round and having lots of fun with @ukocr.izzyx and Jon! #spartan #ocr #nuclearwildforestteam #fitnessaddict
