🎉We are delighted to announce Liao Jiaming (@liao_jiaming_ ) has been selected as the inaugural artist for our new International Residency Programme, organised in partnership with Triangle Network (@trianglenetwork ). The programme begins with HANGAR (Lisbon) (@hangar_cia ) in 2026. 🌍This new residency connects Hong Kong‑based early‑career artists with global artistic ecosystems. Each year, the programme will rotate to different partner destinations through Triangle Network’s international reach. In 2026, Liao will spend two months at HANGAR, Portugal — a space founded by artists and curators, deeply committed to artistic research and experimentation. During the residency, Liao will have access to HANGAR‘s on-site facilities for art-making — including a painting room, dark room, and music studio. The residency is also devised with dialogue in mind, and will encompass collaborative activities, studio visits, and public programmes. 🌟Looking ahead, this is a long‑term commitment by Para Site and Triangle Network to expand cultural exchange opportunities for the next generation of artists based in Hong Kong. #OPENCALL FOR GHANA-BASED ARTISTS ONLY Thanks to the generous support of the Pamela and Atta Kwami Award, 32° East, in partnership with the Triangle Network, is offering a residency opportunity in 2026 for an artist based in Ghana. As construction to complete the 32° East Art Centre continues, we are excited to host residencies for artists, curators, urban designers, architects etc exploring concerns such as land ownership, earth as a material, how spaces for community are constructed, and more. 📣 ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 After 25 years, Gasworks’ incredible Director, Alessio Antoniolli (@alessio_antoniolli ), will be stepping down in April 2024. However, we are delighted to announce that he will not be going far, he will take up a new role as Director of Triangle Network (@trianglenetwork ) and continue the work of our international artistic programme, embarking on some exciting and new global projects. Alessio says: “The last 25 years have been a pleasure and a privilege. My life is enriched by what I have learned from many colleagues, hundreds of artists and all our incredible supporters, and I could not be more grateful! Through blood sweat and tears, but also through dialogue, support and laughter we have achieved the unimaginable for Gasworks. With its own building, a house for our visiting artists, an amazing team and very engaged audiences, the organisation has never been more solid. I am excited for Gasworks’ next chapter and will always be its biggest advocate.” The board of trustees would like to thank Alessio for his committed and exemplary leadership, who has not only built an organisation that has a valued place in the art world but has inspired so many artists across the world. 📣 ANNOUNCING: CURATORS’ RESIDENCY COHORT 📣 The recipients of the Arts Residency Grants Programme 2023-2024 for emerging curators in Pakistan have been selected! Asavir Nadeem (@asavirnadeem ), Ghazala Raees (@raeeskhayal ), Rameesha Azeem (@rameeshaazeem ) and Sehrish Mustafa (@sehrish.jpg_ ) have been selected for the Curators’ Residency, delivered by Triangle Network partners Vasl Artists’ Association (@vaslartists ) and Gasworks (@gasworkslondon ), in collaboration with British Council Pakistan (@britishcouncilpakistan ). 🌍 VISIT TO UGANDA 🌍 Last week, Director of Gasworks (@gasworkslondon ) and Triangle Network (@trianglenetwork ) Alessio Antoniolli (@alessio_antoniolli ) visited our partners 32º East (@32degreeseast ) in Kampala, who opened their spectacular new art centre with 3 days of celebrations! The force of nature that is Teesa Bahana (@teesabahana ), Director of 32º East, was joined by Kampala’s local community in commemoration of this event, a true game-changer for the Ugandan contemporary art scene. The celebrations included open studios, film screenings and talks with special guests including Sepake Angiama (@suburbanelectrostar ), Iniva (@iniva_arts ), 32º East’s architects New Makers Bureau (@newmakersbureau ) and Local Works (@localworkstudio ), and Ibrahim Mahama (@ibrahimmahama3 ). The evening featured special live performances by Jared Onyango (@onyangojaredo ), Sandra Suubi @Sandrasuubi , and Awori (@aworiii ).
