In spring 2023, we had the pleasure of working on the reopening of @ica_nyushanghai in its new location. The exhibition allowed us to reintroduce the ICA’s identity, originally developed by Studio @the_exercises , led by Lu Liang. We designed the window decal and exhibition visuals for this fresh space. The exhibition "Walking China: Stories Yet to be Told" was a collaboration with National Geographic and NYU Shanghai, co-curated by writer and explorer Paul Salopek. Paul, who is retracing ancient human migration routes on foot as part of his "Out of Eden Walk", began his journey in Ethiopia in 2013, and this exhibition reflects his travels through China. The show featured multimedia stories from his trip, including works by his walking partners, folk artists he encountered, and others who meditate on the act of walking. 🫏 1-2. Digital poster and window decal, featuring a plaster model of the ICA identity. The image is a still from Cheng Xinhao’s "Don't You Go to the South, nor to the North", 2022. 3-5. Wall texts for the exhibition, including a map tracing Paul Salopek’s walking route in China. 6. A glimpse of the window decals showcasing the ICA identity, originally designed by Lu Liang. 6-7. Selected spreads of the English version of the exhibition guide, designed to be conveniently printed in-house on a regular Xerox machine. Thank you to ICA Shanghai for kindly sharing images of the show with us!
