QUICK EDIT TEASER WORK-IN-PROGRESS (2025) FORAGING AS A CINEMATIC METAPHOR FOR CULTURAL MEMORY It started with a ludicrous question: "what would a film look like if it was entirely directed by plants?" Not about plants — by them. Plants are the scaffolding of most ecosystems. They carry myths, rituals, ancestral knowledge. This led @tengal and @elvinbrandhi to Siquijor, Philippines — an island known for its pre-colonial shamanistic traditions and the deep knowledge of foraging. Over three weeks, the team composed of Tengal, Elvin Brandhi and filmmakers Jules Leaño and Jippy Pascua joined forest forages, herbalist rituals, and communal hangouts with local healers — observing from within, not at a distance. The result is an experimental documentary following the ritual foraging practices of traditional healers during Holy Week: a spiritual alloy of Catholicism and pre-colonial cosmology, centered on plants as co-authors rather than human protagonists. Techniques included field recordings, phytochemical film processing, and phytograms — a cameraless process where plants expose their chemical signatures directly onto film. The plant becomes both subject and author. The artists call this a "moving image topography" — a living archive mapping biodiversity loss and cultural memory. Foraging, as both method and metaphor: an excavation of forgotten epistemologies, endangered methodologies, and our relationships to place. #foragefriction #experimentalfilm

What is it then? A LOUD speaker is a cultural, social, communal, political and artistic means of the vocal activity of speaking loud, of rising one’s voice, and the means of being amplified by and through a “loudspeaker” as a human, trans human and non-human practice. What does it mean to speak up? - to raise your voice? - to be a medium for content? It is all frequencies, all sounds and all noises ever simultaneously all at once. White noise is a perfectly balanced equilibrium of an infinite collection of possibilities. 1st may (day) 5pm phønix sessions No.4 live set by @phonix16_band PHØNIX16 is a paradox: a collective of individuals exploring the phenomenon of the voice as a primary instrument, but also as a vehicle for social, political and cultural expression and as a means of communication. PHØNIX16 uses a variety of research sources and realises its performances in different formats, including experimental films, installations and happenings. PHØNIX16 is not afraid to incorporate influences ranging from folklore to electronic and contemporary music to death metal. In this way, the usual way of listening is constantly questioned and expanded.

KLIMATON: KOSIKOS is a 30-minute live audiovisual performance that transforms Arctic climate data into immersive sound and image. Using a synthesizer as the primary sound source—modified and mediated through custom electro-acoustic instruments—the piece unfolds through a blend of improvised and composed structures. Commissioned by Studio Softic. Performed and composed by @tengal and J.“@moongsoul ” Santoso Pribadi, it draws on non-Western sonic traditions to create a ritualistic, multi-sensory encounter with ecological transformation. The @klimaton.project is a research-based instrument designed and conceptualized by @studio.softic since 2020, they have been developing the project KLIMATON, which is not only an artistic research endeavor into the acoustic perception of ecological transformations but also a curated platform for collaborative and transdisciplinary sound work. The sub-project KLIMATON ARCTIC (2020–2023) received an honorable mention at the 2023 Prix Ars Electronica. Ambient Distortion and Tranceversal Voices converge at @bar_neun for an evening of transversal sonic practice, bringing together @abigail__toll , @juliavvitas , and @tengal for a series of solo and hybrid live performances. Abigail Toll’s minimalist and drone-based electroacoustic works draw from psychoacoustics, alternate tuning systems, and tonal deviation, shaping prismatic environments attuned to deep listening. Moving across music, film, and performance, Julia Witas explores transformative dimensions of sound, crafting cinematic soundscapes from field recordings, dynamic vocals, and sculptural breath – balancing fragility with distortion-laden intensity. Through modular synthesis and signal manipulation, Tengal positions feedback as structure, distortion as inscription – memory lodged in circuitry – where sonic material folds onto itself and destabilizes its own transmission. Each artist will present a solo live set before entering into shared configurations — duos and trios formed in real time. These first-time encounters trace both consonance and fracture, testing how distinct sonic vocabularies can intersect, resist, and recompose themselves.
