👋 Meet the Delegate: Miro Grgić will attend #TheGreatEscapeFestival in Brighton, bringing his expertise in music curation and immersive sound experiences to the global stage. Miro Grgić is a musician, sound engineer, and concert promoter whose journey began with guitars, drums, mixing desks, and turntables long before he founded the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival, Southeast Asia’s pioneering destination event now 15 years old. Malasimbo has been a launchpad for international talent, introducing artists such as Jacob Collier, FKJ, and Jordan Rakei to the region, during the very first chapters of their international careers. With a deep passion for sonic clarity, timeless music and quality listening experiences, Miro honed his craft in live sound production, developing a meticulous approach to audio that prioritizes precision, warmth, and listener comfort. Beyond Malasimbo, Miro is the director of Funktion-One Philippines, representing the prestigious British loudspeaker brand in the region. In this role, Miro leads sales and marketing efforts while championing high-fidelity sound across Southeast Asia. His hands-on expertise—from system design to on-site operation—has contributed to making Funktion-One a staple at premier venues and festivals. Miro’s work reflects a commitment to elevating the auditory experience, whether through curating music lineups, acoustics & sound design or positioning speakers with surgical accuracy. As a delegate at the Great Escape Festival, he brings a unique perspective shaped by years of technical mastery, artistic collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of sonic excellence. #ArtsattheBritishCouncil

👉❯❯❯❯ We are thrilled to share that delegates from the Philippines will be taking part in some of the UK’s most dynamic international platforms this year — #TheGreatEscapeFestival, #GlasgowInternational, and the #GlobalCreativeProducersProgramme. These events bring together artists, creative producers, and cultural innovators from across the globe, spanning disciplines from visual arts to music, performance, and more. Our delegates will be joining this vibrant exchange, showcasing Philippine creativity while connecting with peers worldwide. Stay tuned as we introduce the delegates and highlight their journeys in the days ahead — from the stages to the galleries, and into the heart of international collaboration. 🇬🇧🇵🇭 #ArtsattheBritishCouncil

This week marks the opening of the 61st International Venice Art Biennale. This year in the British Pavilion is Lubaina Himid's exhibition 'Predicting History: Testing Translation'. The installation questions what it means to inhabit space not built for you; to assert one’s presence in a world where some move freely and can easily blend in, while others become hypervisible and register as ‘out of place’. /?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=cearts-alla-venart-global #BritishPavilion #LubainaHimid #PredictingHistoryTestingTranslation #VeniceBiennale @lubainapics @ese_onojeruo @magda_stawarska @artfund @friezeofficial @corkstreetgalleries @bloombergdotorg @HenryMoorefdn_grants @rothschildfoundationofficial @hollybush_gardens @greenenaftali @t_e_m_p_l_o

After 15 years, this year marks our final production as independent organisers of the "Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival”. Our major sponsor, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has had to “withdraw their support” due to government budget restrictions caused by the war in the Middle East. As a result of these & other challenges which are out of our control, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 will no longer be performing at this years event. Instead we have our own World Music heroes Anima Tierra guaranteed to send chills down your spine. Please buy your tickets as soon as possible via the QR code provided or via Together, let’s make this Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival a celebration to remember.

🎙️💡 In observance of #EnglishDay, British Council Philippines brought together media and education leaders on 28 April to discuss how English supports access to learning, work, and global opportunities for Filipinos. The conversation highlighted why English should go beyond a single subject—helping learners build confidence, supporting teachers in instruction and assessment, and enabling professionals to use English for career growth and international mobility, supported by trusted assessments like IELTS. #CurrentsofConnection #EnglishandExamsattheBritishCouncil

EdTech Hub’s Haani Mazari shares with us how digital transformation can be used to support marginalised learners, especially when evidence is used to inform both policy and practice. Haani spoke to us after the recent Learning for the Future: ASEAN–UK SAGE Evidence and Insights Forum, in Jakarta this March, which forms part of the UK–ASEAN Dialogue Partnership and the UK’s support for equitable, evidence‑driven education systems across the region. At the forum, senior officials from ASEAN Member States, the ASEAN Secretariat, and international partners gathered to share success and learning points from proof-of-concept interventions and technical assistance, and discuss evidence and data on foundational learning and out-of-school children and youth in the region.
