Five years as a Camp Director here made this place a home away from home. Some of my earliest work as a filmmaker was made right here. So getting to come back and tell these stories for Black History Month felt like going back to where it all started.

Escape is set to make its World Premiere at the 2026 Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival! @thevimff
Our first film festival acceptance has us buzzing with excitement (and of course, a little nervousness). This will be the first time Escape will be seen outside of those close to it. It’s an honour to share this work with strangers and hope people connect to this story of identity, connection and community.
This wouldn’t be possible without @escape_to___ continuing to bring people together through the world of running, and of course @quinton_jacobs for being vulnerable and open to this filming experience.
This is more than a documentary. The mission continues to raise funds for @run4schoolsfoundation to provide a safe running space for kids in Mitchells Plain, South Africa.
This project was a true labour of love. Thank you to our small but mighty crew who made it possible. 2026 will be a year of celebrating this project and sharing it with the world!
