We at VIMFF are saddened to hear of the passing of Will Stanhope.⁠ ⁠ Will was a recognized figure in the Canadian climbing community, known for his bold and uncompromising approach to the sport. His ascents and presence in climbing left a mark on many who followed his caree⁠r. Will joined us on the VIMFF stage to share parts of his story and he returned again this year to say hello, to catch a few shows, and to show his support to the climbing and outdoor community here in Vancouver.⁠ ⁠ Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those who knew and climbed with him.

@thevimff 2026 was an incredible experience and I’m very grateful to be an ambassador for such an epic film festival. 🙌 Opening night was filled with hype, excitement and a packed house. We watched the VIMFF Film Awards and heard from athletes and directors who shared the stories behind their films. The mix of films set an amazing tone for the rest of the week. Night two was Climbing Free, featuring a presentation from legendary climber @_linacolina_ and several inspiring climbing films to get everyone stoked for the upcoming season. 🧗🏼‍♀️ Night three was the fan-favourite Ski and Snow Show with guest presentations from @matt_ruta and @logweeze . Mountain of Mystery was my favourite film showcasing a wild expedition combining whitewater kayaking, ski touring and surfing. 🏄🏻‍♀️ Stoked to keep the hype going as VIMFF continues with their online program from March 14 to April 11.
