We are excited to share our new artwork ‘Latent Listening’, a semi-permanent commission on view for 12 months at Edith Cowan University’s City Campus @edithcowanuniversity , Perth. The work transforms field recordings of local bird species into three-dimensional forms through a custom AI and 3D workflow. It explores how machines organise auditory information and reveal latent structures between sound, data, and spatial form. The installation unfolds slowly across the four-storey media surface, creating a rhythm informed by the source material, and invites viewers to reflect on how algorithms mediate our perception of non-human information. By shaping this into a meditative environment, ‘Latent Listening’ encourages quiet observation and reflection of the unseen logic connecting sound, data, and form. We are happy to share our most recent project ‘Meditative Cohabitation’ which is an audio-visual experience investigating multi-species communication in future cities on the base of the city of Brussels. Grounded in bioacoustics recordings and scans of the biotop of @marais_wiels , which is located in the heart of the urban landscape of the city, an immersive installation invites the audience to meditate between multispecies sounds and a responsive multiscreen landscape. What if we re-design our screen devices to serve more than human lifeforms? The project aims to engage with interspecies realities through Games Engines and AI tools to declare the need of interspecies acknowledgement within our design process and datasets in order to build empathy and purpose for advanced technologies to serve more than human lifeforms. The research and development included building a custom audio sensor, experimenting with Machine Learning sound classification tools, bioacoustics impacting the virtual landscape, 3d scans and 3d objects of plant species of the local landscape and real time renderings of reactive 3d objects using @unrealengine and @touchdesigner . We collaborated with the local ecological sound designer Yau Fan on the exploration and manifestation of bioacoustics within the local biotop of Marais Wiels in Brussels. The project was developed under the umbrella of the @european_media_art_platform residency with @imal_brussels as our hosting institute. We are happy to launch the immersive experience 'Semi-Diurnal Spaces', part of the @cultvrlab Immersive Residency Programme. 'Semi-Diurnal Spaces' is a site specific full dome artwork which makes use of local tidal and atmospheric data of South Wales, the Bristol Channel – studying patterns of a natural satellite and its effects on bodies of water. Locals were invited to experience their close-by waterbody through a meditative environment, connecting to it in a poetic, technological and telepresent way. Tidal patterns and atmospheric data such as wind and humidity influence a digital NVIDIA FleX particle system in real-time. The site-specific data influences the gravitational forces, fluid viscosity and flow rate within the dome as a body, resulting in a living digital sculpture and AV experience connecting to aspects of the channel itself. Through visiting the South Wales coastal line and collecting materials as audio visual inspiration, we imagine several handfuls of sand could already surpass the digital particles within the immersive experience, resulting in us challenging the digital immersion as a catalyst to connect with the real. This project was built using @touchdesigner Flex, DEFRA data feed and audiovisual material collected from coastal sites. Quantum Leaps March—May 2026 Studio Above&Below @studioaboveandbelow Quantum Trace is an experimental generative artwork built from a quantum computing simulation, realised as a dynamic light sculpture and generative fine art imagery. The live sculpture embodies multiple potential patterns simultaneously, while the images on the walls preserve frozen outcomes timestamps or single traces of possibility that once appeared and will never return in the same way. Rather than focusing on the extreme physical conditions of quantum technology, the work engages with the behaviour of qubits themselves: superposition, interference, and collapse. These principles are translated through light, space, and material memory, allowing quantum processes to be experienced through visual and spatial form. As quantum art, it is created through quantum algorithms and shaped by their behaviour. Its patterns are probabilistic rather than fixed, and the sculpture and images are delicate, sensitive to their surroundings, and defined by the moments in which they appear to the observer. Honoured that ‘Quantum Lens’ has been selected for ‘The Quantum Revolution’ at Espacio Fundación Telefónica @espacioftef @telefonica . Using Mixed Reality as a symbolic lens, ‘Quantum Lens’ explores entanglement, probability and quantum tunnelling, phenomena that exist beyond direct perception, yet shape the conditions of reality itself. Across immersive environments and interactive sculptures, the piece translates quantum mechanics into an embodied experience of uncertainty, presence and relation. Bringing together art, science and emerging quantum technologies, the exhibition ‘The Quantum Revolution’ traces how quantum physics has transformed our understanding of space, time and causality, from the foundations of modern physics to the development of quantum computing, ultra-secure communication and new technological infrastructures. By @studioaboveandbelow | Quantum Trace What if images are only a trace of a moment that vanished, made of uncertainty and possibility? What if a collectible artwork could preserve a quantum trace from a moment that will never occur in the same way again? Quantum Trace (2026) is a generative installation unfolding through light, moving image, and space. At its centre, a dynamic light sculpture combines light, moving image and sculpture to produce continuously evolving forms. Its behaviour is informed in real time by a quantum computing simulation operating on five qubits, allowing multiple potential configurations to coexist before temporarily resolving into visible patterns, defining a position in space to leave a trace. The system foregrounds sensitivity and instability: small variations are amplified, making each drawing responsive to time, environment, and observation. Surrounding the sculpture, wall-based light works - Quantum Trace: Pattern I, II, and III - preserve singular outcomes from this generative process. Each piece is a unique quantum trace, capturing a momentary configuration of possibilities that will never exist again in the same way. Available individually or as a complete set, these works invite collectors to own a fragment of a living, emergent system. Atmospheric Seeing is an interactive installation shaped from historical cloud archives and real-time weather inputs, gathering the unseen particles of the air into a cubic sculptural form at human scale. Vast local atmospheric data (approx. 2,149,690 km²), normally stretched across the sky, is drawn inward until it becomes a space the body can slowly walk through. Originally developed in 2019, the work has been chosen for @noorriyadhfestival 2025 under the “In the Blink of an Eye” curatorial theme. It reflects our early artistic curiosity and research in how invisible atmospheric elements can be measured and revealed, extending perception beyond ordinary senses. We are interested not only in what the data shows, but in the act of measurement itself: how capturing something as vast and fluid as the atmosphere reduces it to discrete signals, and how those signals can be translated into a space and reactive sculptural form that can be felt, danced with, moved through, and inhabited. Inside this meditative cubic sculpture, light, sound, mirrors, and responsive technology turn cloud-liquid measurements into a drifting, living presence, navigated by the audience. With every step, the environment shifts, folds, brightens, and settles: a choreographic dance of perception, matter, and movement, allowing one to walk through 2,149,690 km² of local cloud information. — Curators Li Zhenhua (Curator) @lzhenhua Sara Almutlaq (Curator) @sara.endipity Mami Kataoka (Curatorial Advisory Lead) @mami_kataoka_2018 Artwork Proposal & Curation: @lucreziadiana.c Artwork Concept & Development: @studioaboveandbelow Sound Art: @einar_zuviel Producers: Nicolas Wierinck @nicolas_wierinck Commission: @noorriyadhfestival @riyadhartofficial Production Company: @filmmaster.official Built: Simple Solutions AV Supply: @novelty_officiel Data Set: @nasa Technology: @touchdesigner @ableton Live , Kinect Azure DOP: @rameezmanama Medium & Dimensions Audiovisual installation - LED display, mirrors, light, audio, custom datasets, infrared tracking 4000mm × 4000mm × 4000mm
