âAmidst instability and crisis, a longing for profound connection re-emerges, one that understands all things as interconnected and entangled, where consciousness and matter are inseparably bound in the making of reality. This search is itself ritualistic, a repeated practice of making meaning through patterns of relation and interdependence.â

Weâre excited to share that Simon Goritschnig has been awarded this yearâs Austrian State Scholarship for Media Art.
In his project Bionic Dreams, Goritschnig explores how the value of natural resourcesâwater, seeds, forestsâmight shift in a future shaped by scarcity and geopolitical tension. His work reflects on changing perceptions of ecology, freedom, and mortality in the face of the climate crisis, while engaging with rituals as carriers of collective knowledge across time.
Blending intuitive image-making with influences ranging from open-source culture to artificial intelligence and nuclear semiotics, his practice navigates how meaning can be communicated across generations.
Very pleased to invite you to the group show âLayer by Layerâ at @galeriehilger .

40 days of forest in fall⌠and you can see it breathing.
I donât know what this is going to be or where itâs going to feed intoâŚ. but Iâve built a time-lapse camera from a hacked Canon and Iâm going to augment it with solar power soon.

During my residency at @stiftungkuenstlerdorf i produced a lot of small drawings for research on my ongoing series "Planting Rituals". I drew all of these with a little fountain pen, that I found on the window shelf of my home a couple of days before I left to Germany. It quickly became one of may favourite pens.

For one year my installation âCAPSULESâ has been on view at @schlosslind , now that Iâve deconstructed it, I would like to look back once more:
During the Second World War, the âcastle,â now known as âSchloss Lind,â served as a subcamp of the Mauthausen concentration camp. Only in its more recent past has it been adapted into a museum.
This is by no means a gallery situation I am accustomed to. For this reason, I intended my installation âCapsulesâ to operate on three intersecting levels:
âCapsulesâ tells a story of the countless deaths during the Second World War. It confronts us with the gaze of imaginary gods looking down upon usâjudging our actions and ultimately placing our short lives into perspective. It draws inspiration from the collective subconscious of the hive mind and recreates the fantasy of cryogenic sleep used in sci-fi deep-space travel, an idea most commonly found in narratives of space colonization.

Everlasting Worlds
Lisbon Exhibition â 2025
The conceptual universe of Everlasting Worlds unfolds within an immersive space where new places becomes both language and surface.
Through the use of wallpaper designed by Simon Goritschnig, the exhibition environment is transformed into an extension of his fictional âexcavations,â enveloping the viewer in a continuous landscape of speculative traces.
This grey backdrop both neutral and imbued with memory functions as an expanded archaeological field in which the works of Carola Bonfili, Simon Goritschnig, Robertina Ĺ ebjaniÄ, and Gil FerrĂŁo are inscribed as fragments of possible worlds.
More than a setting, the space becomes a narrative agent, dissolving boundaries between artwork and context, between imagined pasts and latent futures. Here, ash is not merely residue, but a material of transformation an intermediate state where disappearance gives way to continuous reinvention.
