Born from a shared love of traditional dance music, the record explores the diatonic button accordion in both lead and accompaniment roles. Using two near-identical instruments built in Eindhoven, the duo create a unified sound that - at times - feels like a single accordion played by four hands. The tunes written by the pair explore the similarities and differences between their two styles, pushing and pulling at geographical and stylistic borders. The recordings were made at a remote location in Carmarthenshire in late 2024. Sweeney (Trillick, Co. Tyrone) brings a strong grounding in Irish tradition and is currently touring the folk musical Daughters of Ceithleann. The album pairs Hart’s tenor viol and distinctive vocals with Moore’s expressive viola, enhanced by drones and bass from an antique church harmonium, creating a sound that is both intimate and timeless. Both musicians are highly respected in the folk world. Nick, an award-winning singer and multi-instrumentalist, has been described as “probably the finest interpreter of traditional English folk songs this generation has produced” (Tradfolk). 🌱 We are delighted to announce the debut album by @f_____en will be released in Spring 2026 🌱 Fen make chamber music driven by improvisation that blends acoustic instruments with electronics. Formed in south east London in 2018, the trio of Evie Hilyer-Ziegler, Emma Barnaby and Francis Devine use violin, cello, modular synth and live electronics to create detailed and textural music that blurs boundaries and traditions. The band have been recording in Brockley this summer and production continues over the next couple of months. We are thrilled to welcome these musicians to the @slowwormrecords family - this is set to be a really exciting record.

Exquisite…’ The Sunday Times Black Hours is a collective of musicians from diverse musical traditions, brought together in south east London by guitarist, vocalist, composer and orchestrator Dave Malkin, to realise his inventions for strings, wind, brass, percussion, electronics and voice. At times dynamically explosive and others introspective and melancholic, Malkin’s compositions refract songwriting through prisms of British jazz, contemporary classical and folk music. The melodies exude a refined simplicity, allowing Malkin to explore wordplay, phonaesthetics and ambiguity in his lyrics, supported by the ensemble’s carefully-orchestrated accompaniments.
