This weekend at Things Happen Here and CLASH… THH: We open at 1 today and tonight’s comedy night has SOLD OUT but we can still serve non ticket holders 🍻 Saturday we open 1-11 and from 8 it’s our roots, dub and reggae session Reggae Happens Here. Sunday it’s this months Forage And A Pint (meet outside at 11) and depending on the weather from 2 we have an outside DJ set of progressive house and jazz from Elcox. If the weather isn’t playing ball the set will be happening inside at CLASH. Talking of CLASH… Today we open at 1 and from 5 have wood fired sour dough pizza from Soul Pizza and our monthly sushi delivery from Hakko House plus a DJ set from Future Roots DJ OTEC from 7. Saturday we open at 11.30 and with Soul Pizza again plus the Big Kebabski and from 2 a DJ set from WeirdDog DJ Andy Lake. On Sunday from midday we have a classic car meet outside side CLASH- classics at CLASH plus a range of beers especially for the event from Apex Brewing and food from the Big Kebabski. If you’re at THH for a drink we can serve you one in/one out to drink outside or you can walk 3 minutes across the road to CLASH which is open until 11. ‘Gender terrorism’ plus ANFIFA flags will be on proud display as will the managements legendary cold character!!!! "I may not like other people’s music, but I will defend to the death their right to perform it and enjoy it." This is our new mantra ✨️ Yesterday we put on a free, all-ages DIY punk/hardcore show in a car park in Dartington. 🎵 Local bands played. 🎵 Kids danced. 🎵 Parents hung out. People who hadn’t seen each other in years reconnected. Local food vendors sold food. Independent musicians got a platform. A community space felt ALIVE. It was loud. It was imperfect. It was real. And yes, there were noise complaints too. We genuinely understand that not everyone wants outdoor music events near their home. That’s fair. Communities require dialogue, compromise and consideration. But we also believe something important gets lost when every act of collective culture is treated as a nuisance first and a community asset second. Grassroots music scenes do not appear out of nowhere. They exist because people build them: with extension leads, borrowed amps, gazebos instead of a stage, flyers, group chats, favours, and a belief that human beings need spaces to create, connect and express themselves. Especially young people. Especially now. You don’t have to enjoy punk, hardcore, classical, pop, funk, noise rock, metal, folk, drum & bass, jazz, opera, or experimental synth music.
