DYAD poetically explores the resilience and fragility of the human form set against the stark beauty of California’s Mojave Desert towns. The film follows two female dancers in evocative cycles of collision and symbiosis, with movement informed by Lacanian frameworks of relationality, and a photographic language rooted in geometric minimalism: spare compositions that treat the built environment and open desert as an active visual score. DYAD offers a contemplative vision the Anthropocene, tracing the body’s journey alongside a landscape whose conditions feel quietly, unmistakably in flux.
DYAD was made in the desert during our residency at @doorthedesert in Joshua Tree, shaped by place, time, and the care of this remarkable team of artists:

I've had the pleasure of making this new work with students at @slcdanceprogram this semester. It wrestles in identity, the complicated nature of self realization, and the simplicity of being. It's funny, playful, dramatic, rhythmic, even beautifully chaotic at times. An exercise of intuition.
"wale, wail, whale" premieres next week, Tuesday, December 9 and Wednesday, December 10th. 7:30pm in the Bessie Schömberg Dance Theater at Sarah Lawrence College✨
Tickets are free. Link in bio
Thank you Fall 2025 guest faculty, Candice Michelle Franklin @candicegetsdown2 , for leading an awesome Dance Meeting @slcdanceprogram last week!! 💚
Candice led a wonderful Katherine Dunham Technique class, with musician Victor Y. See Yuen on the drums, sharing what her and her students in Jazz I and Jazz II have been diving into this semester!
Thank you for sharing with the SLC Dance community!
