This piece is currently on display at the Sifang Art Museum in Nanjing as part of ”CONFLU. | URBAN ART NOW.“ Curated by @oop.official.co@zelamlim , the exhibition, centered on ”creative residency,“ translates the raw energy of street art into architectural space, outlining a pioneering slice of contemporary urban visual culture.

Born in Hong Kong, SINIC @sinicchoy has created art since 2003, drawing from Asia’s dense urban visual culture to merge street practice with writing and imagery.
In the early 2000s, when street art in mainland China was still marginal, he questioned whether Western graffiti in Asia must simply replicate alphabetic systems. Instead, he adopted the strokes and structural logic of Chinese characters, developing an English typographic system with a distinctly Eastern sensibility through brushwork, directional movement, and negative space.
Within this approach, graffiti shifts from typographic evolution to a spatial writing practice, using walls as its medium. His focus moves from “how words are written” to “how culture is perceived in urban space,” examining how Eastern culture manifests in the contemporary city.
SINIC生于香港，自2003年创作，立足亚洲高密度城市的视觉经验，以街头文化融合文字书写与影像。
2000年代初，当街头艺术在中国大陆尚属边缘时，他已經思考：西方涂鸦进入亚洲，是否只能重复既有字母系统？
为此，他未沿袭传统涂鸦字体谱系，而以汉字笔画与书写结构为骨干，从运笔、转折、留白中生长出一套具有东方气质的英文字体系统。在此脉络下，涂鸦不再只是字体演进，而是以墙面为媒材的空间书写实践，创作重心从“字怎么写”转向“文化如何在城市墙面上被感知”，进而探索东方文化在当代城市中的可见形式。

art is redrawing Jiaxian’s identity —
a mountain town now telling its story through cats.

Frozen Hunt - w/ @colasa
Our new mural explores the tension between desire and time, capturing a frozen moment of a tiger (primal power) and a butterfly (illusory desire). It blends retro Eastern aesthetics with digital collage to create a powerful contrast between movement and stillness.
