天下第二行書 vs. SaSa 💦💦💦💦
__《祭姪文稿》顏真卿
This work uses a remote-controlled car to repeatedly drive across, mark, and graffiti over a reproduced copy of Ji Zhi Wen Gao (Draft of a Requiem to My Nephew). The original calligraphic text, once carrying intense emotional and historical weight, is interrupted by mechanical movement, tire marks, and layers of paint. As the writing is gradually obscured, calligraphy shifts from a form of expression into an act of erasure, interference, and physical gesture.
Ji Zhi Wen Gao is widely regarded as one of the most emotionally powerful works in the history of Chinese calligraphy. In this work, the classic text is not simply destroyed or rejected. Instead, it is used as a site for questioning the authority of writing, the aura of calligraphy, and the relationship between human gesture and mechanical action.
The movement of the remote-controlled car resembles a distorted act of reading. It moves across the surface of history like a machine performing graffiti, leaving behind marks, noise, and traces of movement. Positioned between calligraphy, painting, mechanical performance, and destruction, the work reconsiders what writing can become in the contemporary era.
