Regrouping er et vilt og mangefasettert portrett av et kvinnekollektiv i New York på 70-tallet, som på skarpt vis fanger sammenstøtet mellom idealer og levd erfaring. Borden står også bak den legendariske Born In Flames (1983), omtalt som en av de hundre mest betydningsfulle politiske filmene gjennom tidene (The New Republic). Borden er i digital samtale med programsjef Silja Espolin Johnson etter visning. Arrangementet markerer siste uke av vår utstilling No Master Territories: Feminist Worldmaking and the Moving Image, og er støttet av Norsk Filminstitutt. /////// Welcome to this finissage screening with the American filmmaker, critic, and author Lizzie Borden (Born in Flames, Working Girls)! Regrouping is a wild and multifaceted portrait of a women’s collective in 1970s New York that sharply captures the clash between ideals and lived experience. Lizzie Borden is behind the legendary Born in Flames (1983), described by The New Republic as one of “the hundred most significant political films of all time.” Borden will be in a digital conversation with Head of Program Silja Espolin Johnson following the screening. The event marks the final week of our exhibition No Master Territories: Feminist Worldmaking and the Moving Image, and is supported by the Norwegian Film Institute.

Onsdag 21.5 kl 18: ‘hold on to her’ (2024, Robin van Besien). Samtale med billedkunstnere / filmskapere van Besien og Ina Hagen etter filmen. ‘Hold on to her’ hadde verdenspremiere i Berlinalens Forum Expanded-program i 2024 og er van Besiens første langfilm. Filmen følger et nettverk av omsorg, solidaritet og kamp som adresserer en nylig hendelse av politivold i forbindelse med migrasjonskontroll i Belgia. Arrangementet er del av 7. utgave av Nettverk for kunstnerisk film, en samling om produksjon og distribusjon av bevegelige bilder for kuratorer og formidlere på tvers av film- og kunstfeltene, initiert av distribusjonskollektivet Filmbyrået Jack og Kunstnernes Hus Kino. ////// Robin Vanbesien’s hold on to her traces a lived social infrastructure of care, solidarity and struggle that addresses a recent case of police and state violence in the context of migration border control in Belgium. There will be a conversation between Vanbesien and artist / filmmaker Ina Hagen after the screening. The event is a part of the 7th edition of the Art and Film Allience gathering, a network meeting for curators, mediators and filmmakers across the art and film sectors initiated by the distribution collective Filmbyrået Jack and Kunstnernes Hus Cinema.
