Over the last decade the festival has grown into an annual celebration in which artists and makers are invited to come together and show work under a freely interpreted theme. The participants are local, national and beyond, with diverse practices, some are friends and neighbours, others strangers.This year the title is 'My friend, I only dreamt it' and is from the Ingeborg Refling Hagen book by the same name. Hagen was a writer, self-taught philosopher and cultural worker who was involved in the Norwegian resistance during the second world war. She later founded the Suttung Movement as a form of continued resistance to any future rise in fascism by nurturing young people towards free thinking through the arts.The festival is taking her title as an open-ended invitation, to be understood in whatever way people wish. It is not necessary to understand or interpret dreams but it is usually worth paying attention to them. Perhaps dreams are a form of resistance.
