Going live today: new intervention by Black Industrial Research Group as part of Ângela Ferreira’s exhibition: ‘Slits are Girls’ Thursday 9 April, 12pm onwards As part of Ângela Ferreira’s commitment to sustaining the ‘Slits are Girls’ installation as an open, working space, the artist has invited the Black Industrial Research Group to intervene throughout the exhibition. Building on Dubmorphology’s opening performance in February, the Research Group have developed an evolving intervention that draws on punk and its entanglements with multiple political and cultural histories. This expanded field of research and critique montages sound and visual elements, projected onto one of the sculptural forms within the installation. This ongoing, generative, and semi-autonomous system is intended as a non-conforming, punk montage machine that suggests connections between artistic and political projects in the UK and South Africa. The exhibition continues until 7 June Open Wednesday – Saturdays, 12–6pm @angela_ferreira__ @andrew.renton @dubmorphology #blackindustrialresearchgroup #punk #montage #installation #intervention Images: Ângela Ferreira: Slits are Girls with Black Industrial Research Group, installation at The Showroom, 2026. 'Slits are Girls' is #AngelaFerreira solo show at #Theshowroom which brings one of the few women punk group 'The Slits' back through the lens of punk in South African. Ângela Ferreira never stops surprising us, here she brings another understanding of this movement against everything and firstly against apartheid. This was 50 Years ago and injustice still remains, be it at the level of social justice or Gender. A show nicely curated by #Andrew Renton. A surprisingly way of revisiting the punk movement which also started around the corner of this iconic exhibition space. #Dubmorphology #theshowroom #AngelaFerreira #BRIGBlackIndustrialResearch Group

Bantu @ Hundred Years Gallery, 13 Pearson St, E2 8JD Saturday 7th February 19:30 A rare outing in the UK as Bantu the alter ego of Gary Stewart at the Hundred Years Gallery art Space in Hoxton which also features sets from Xuanni and Dhangsha.  I have been having some fun prepping for this audio visual performance exploring some militant but soulful Nyabingi drum patterns to see how I might create and sculpt new rhythm and textures that reflects my political, spiritual, and cultural influences. At the heart of this performance will be my Electron Octarack performance sampler and Strega electronic synth from Make Noise which they describe as an audio alchemical experiment. I should have enough time to get some audio reactive visuals running through Resolume. Let's see how it goes as usual it will all be improvised live. Please come along. It would be great to see you there. @dhangsha_music (Bengali for ‘destruction’) is the project and alias of electronic artist Aniruddha Das. Working at the interface of bass culture and experimental noise, he explores minimalism, repetition and fragmentation, instigating turbulent interactions between metered rhythm and abstract noise.  @Xuanni_space (aka Space) is a Chinese composer, improviser, and noise artist based in London. Her practice moves between acoustic instruments, electronics, and found objects, focusing on process, physical interaction, and real-time response.  /space-music/
