_ship explores the perception of and reaction to sound in public spaces, secluded areas or resonant hideouts. It's a small portable speaker and dsp-realtime setup with simple materials, like found cardboard panels, that function as a speaker system and can be set up in different locations to create various listening experiences and associations, while also considering the impact of amplification levels. In addition to the auditory focus on the adaptive nature of sonic systems, it also seeks to address the question of spatial presence and explore the different qualities of exposure to unfamiliar elements.

Investigating sound’s outer dimensions, an afrofuturistic journey, acousmatic transitory states, a suite on the text-image-symbol path, electromagnetic auras, algorithmic music crossing acoustic instruments cultures, technological occultism, an in-situ sound sculpture :::
24/04, Ka Baird @ Beursschouwburg: “Yomp” loosely plays with the idea of a march that repeatedly falls apart, furthering Baird’s investigation into sound’s outer dimensions through performance.
26/04, NikNak @ MDC Modelwijk: An afrofuturistic sonic journey through turntablism and immersive sound design, transporting audiences into a richly textured world where rhythm, memory, and imagination collide.
28/04, Miki Yui @ Rosas Performance Space: Specially created for an acousmonium setting, the piece “Transient – Aquosity” invites the audience to discover a transitory state of the body and the environment.
25/04, Lawrence McGuire @ Beursschouwburg: A suite of recitals and monologues to question how text, image and symbol finds their path to the mouth.
01/05, Claire Williams @ Bodeek: A live sonic performance for the unheard, the acoustic weird, and otherworldly energies. A multichannel system from visible and invisible interfaces using crafted dowsing tools and bodies to receive and amplify unfiltered energies, revealing electromagnetic auras of resurrected circuits.
28/04, Tom Mudd @ Rosas Performance Space: Based on physics simulations of acoustic instruments, Mudd’s music rubs algorithmic computer music against the cultures of practice that surround the acoustic instruments.
03/05, WACK (Jennifer Walshe & Neil Luck) @ BUDA BXL: An experiment in technological occultism, using arcane and modern sound recording technologies, voices, percussion, dreaming, telepathy, and mounds of texts to divine meanings, messages and narratives from the detritus of everyday informational noise.
26/04, Paul Gründorfer @ MDC Modelwijk: An in-situ sound sculpture, using simple and fragile materials it tries to detect what escapes the imaginary engine-room of an Institution – where does it draw its powers from?
'extensión' for Tsonami Festival Atmosférica
accion el 16.1.2025 7pm mercado de frutas Chacabuco / Ecuador, Valparaiso, Chile
'extensión' follows the tactic of dérive, a situationist concept involving aimless wandering through urban environments to create a psychogeographic map of different areas.
In addition to the auditory focus on interventions with decentralised audio diffusion systems or other strategies for listening experiences, 'extensión' also wants to involve the question of the presence of spaces and explore the different qualities of subliminal immersion or exposure to unfamiliar elements.

June 19 ::: Post-residency presentation by Paul Gründorfer
Based on his research project “whisper”, which deals with sound phenomena and subliminal sound and voice experiences created by different levels of amplification within feedback systems and fragments of generative models, in this presentation Paul will play a set with some occurrences of abstract presence or “ghostly voice agents”.
During his residency he was working on digital feedback synthesis with computer to create an open system for live audio processes, mainly using the concept of no-input-mixing and accelerated interconnections with unstable conditions.
