@walaa.shublaq
Palestinian architect and visual artist. She was born in 1996 in Gaza City, where she currently lives and works. Her artistic practice explores human dimensions through historical narratives, merging them with contemporary experiences to celebrate heritage and enhance authenticity. As a self-taught artist, Walaa has mastered ink sketching, watercolor painting, and conceptual art over the past 7 years and has led numerous workshops to share her expertise.
The artist work has been prominently featured in various exhibitions, including “Every tomorrow I remember” (Barcelona, Berlin, 2026); “Key Of Return” (Berlin, Barcelona, 2025); “I Will Write Our Will above the Clouds” (Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, 2024); “Augen aus Gaza” (Göttingen, Berlin, 2024); “Our heritage our identity” and “Focal Point” (Gaza, 2022); “Waslah exhibition” (Gaza, 2021); “Ten years of sketching” (Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, Ramallah, 2018).
Walaa has won many productivity grants in the field of visual arts, some by the General Union of Cultural Centers in cooperation with the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center and Abdul Mohsen Qattan Foundation. She also won many awards, including the PUI (Premiere Ugance International) Award for painting scenes from the archaeological site of Hilarion Monastery within the 2030 Transition Program; and the “Tom K” Award for Free Architectural Drawing from “Riwaq” Center for Popular Architecture 2016.
