Civil Registry 801129735 By Esraa Al-Ashqar @artist_esraaashqar Multidisciplinary visual artist born in Gaza in 1998. She lives and works in Gaza. Her artistic practice sheds light on the contemporary events she experiences daily in Gaza. She examines the new character acquired by the survivor of genocide, as well as the social and psychological transformations produced by wars on Gazan society. Living within this reality as an artist, she explores these themes through diverse media, with a particular focus on installation art, as seen in her works “Civil Record” (Sijil Madani) and “A Box of Fiber” (Sanduq min al-Lif). She has received several grants and artist residencies, including with Shababik Studio and the Wasla Grant 2026. During the 2026 genocidal war, she worked on creative activation and psychosocial support programs for children at Dar Al-Kalima and with UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency). She served as artist-in-residence at the Rashad Al-Shawa Cultural Center under Gaza Municipality. Al-Ashqar has widely exhibited her work and participated in numerous exhibitions, including at the Walled Off Hotel Gallery in Bethlehem. She also took part in the launch of the book “Malādh al-Fann” (Sanctuary of Art) in 2022. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from 2020.

The artist work has been prominently featured in various exhibitions, including “Every tomorrow I remember” (Barcelona, Berlin, 2026); “Key Of Return” (Berlin, Barcelona, 2025); “I Will Write Our Will above the Clouds” (Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, 2024); “Augen aus Gaza” (Göttingen, Berlin, 2024); “Our heritage our identity” and “Focal Point” (Gaza, 2022); “Waslah exhibition” (Gaza, 2021); “Ten years of sketching” (Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, Ramallah, 2018). Opening today 17:00 at Podium! Open during Visit Vestbredden: Saturday 13:00-20:00 // 17:00 Talk with Motaz Al Habbash, Hamada Elkept Sunday 13:00-20:00 For You 2 presents works of 7 Palestinian artists from Gaza. For You 2 extends the Artist2Artist initiative of Ayman Al-Azraq and Shareef Sarhan, cofounder of Gaza City’s Shababeek Art Center. Artist2Artist is a response to the need for artistic organisation after the war on Gaza in 2023 - it was established in 2024, building on Al-Azraq and Shareef’s collaboration since 2021. For You 2 is not a typical exhibition. It responds to the rapid changes that have shaped the years 2025 and 2026. During this time, the destruction of Gaza’s cultural spaces has increased. Archives, studios, and art schools have been deliberately targeted and erased. Solidarity movements across borders have faced new restrictions. Showing art from Gaza in Europe now brings risks of censorship, loss of funding, and accusations of bias. The seven artists in For You are not observers. They offer direct accounts of survival and resistance under ongoing violence and blockade. The title For You 2 asks who this work is for, and the question is urgent. Solidarity must be real and involve risk and responsibility. Preserving artistic life is an act of resistance. This exhibition records the present and insists that witnessing and remembering are ways to resist efforts to erase these stories.

Artist2Artist.no is a response to the need for artistic organisation after the war on Gaza in 2023. Raneen Rafat Al-Qedra Palestinian journalist and visual storyteller from Gaza, holding a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Al-Azhar University (2023). I work in content creation, voice-over, and media production, with a strong focus on documenting human stories in their most vulnerable moments. My work explores the concept of "the impact of absence," capturing the small details that become lasting memories even after loss. I am part of the Community Development and Media Center (CDMC), where I participated in specialized programs, including psychological support and first aid training for journalists, as well as the project "Building Truth and Resilience," which strengthened my ability to work under challenging conditions. I am also a recipient of the Wasla Visual Arts Grant for 2026, through which I continue to develop my visual storytelling practice, using photography as a space for expression, resistance, and conveying lived reality beyond headlines. Through my work, I aim to capture what is left unsaid, highlighting the traces that absence leaves behind, and turning images into human testimonies that go beyond documentation.
