So fun to finally have the track «Inga Elektra» (named after our daughter) released🔥 7 years ago @joarnango brought together the genius of @charlottebendiks and @anebplevna to collaborate, and the outcome is this release by Montreal based Multi Culti 💙 I was tasked with writing the press release, and since IG limits a word count, the full release and music can be experienced here:

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
«In the six-minute track “Ingá-Elektra,” Norwegian artist Charlotte Bendiks masterfully weaves ancient and repetitive forms into a hypnotic, atmospheric soundscape that feels both sci-fi and shamanic. She is joined by Horatiu Serbanescu, aka Plevna, who creates melodies from the rich traditions of manele—a genre blending Balkan, Turkish, Arabic, Romani, and Greek influences. “Ingá Elektra” is named after my daughter and has a double-barrelled meaning; Ingá comes from her Sámi grandmother of the same name and Elektra references the Greek word ēlektēr (ἠλέκτωρ _or ἠλέκτρα), which means ‘radiant’ and ‘shining’. It also happens to be one of the brightest stars within the Pleiades star cluster, otherwise known as the Seven Sisters constellation. The track that emerged from these references carries a deeply collaborative spirit one rooted in bridging cultural traditions, breaking geographic boundaries, and communal joy. When I listen, I feel radiance and resistance that is sent out across time and space. Just as stars take light years to reach us, the transmission of music endures long after its creation. These sonic echoes are an homage: to Ingá-Elektra, to Ima Flora, to all daughters, to all sisters, to the generation poised to inherit this complicated, collapsing world. Like the transformative energy of a star’s death, may we break open the current order and breathe life into building a new one.»

New Mineral Collective's 'Tidal Body' at LIAF 2022 Fantasmagoriana, curated by Francesco Urbano Ragazzi, is still up until 3 October at Museum of the Sun ☀️
'Tidal Body' is a graphic score that explores concepts of contemporary cartography, buoyancy, and the ocean as a sonic space. The ocean's properties and processes are mostly known today through distributed sensor networks. Using this data as a starting point for a composition - 'Tidal Body' incorporates local notations such as tidal rhythms, elemental swirls and eddies, maritime industry and NMC’s own iconography.
Many many thanks to @joku.bas@vladlunin@gregoryblunt@jaretbelliveau for all of your assistance and mad skills 🙌🏼

Mondo is proud to present our newest publication: Blok P by @carstenaniksdal and @tonehuse , with contributing texts by Nicolas Norton and Inge Bisgaard. Designed by Kaja Krakowian and Petri Henriksson at @blankblank_studio and edited by @tanyabusse The book is bilingual in English and Kalaallisut. Available at Mondo Books and NordNorsk Kunstmuseum (with more point of sales to come in the Oslo area) 💙
Blok P is a visual and textual descent from bird’s-eye to demolition dust: it begins with the tearing down of Nuuk’s most iconic housing block that once stood in the middle of town, about everyday joys and the richness of children playing in the hallways, but also about Nordic colonialism - about how it has shaped and continues to shape everyday life, urban landscapes and relationships between people.
Big thank you to UrbTrans at UiT, Tromsø Research Foundation, the Research Council, the Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association - NFFO, the Fritt Ord Foundation, the Norwegian Arts Council and Nofofo for the support 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤

Our daughter was born in Skábmamánnu and she took her sweet time, going 10 days past our due date. If anything though, she’s been a dispeller of darkness.
We’re incredibly lucky that all went well- while still holding in our hearts the knowledge that the world is not so gentle to everyone. Our wish is that no one is more entitled to safety, freedom, or peace than anyone else- that all life is equal from the moment it begins. Afterall, life is sacred, wherever it unfolds 🧡💙💚🇵🇸
Biggest thanks to those who reached out these past few weeks- it really does take a village. Welcome to our family and welcome to the world little brave one.
Founded by artists Emilija Škarnulytė and Tanya Busse, New Mineral Collective explores contemporary landscape politics. The collective renders visible the extent of human intervention in the Earth’s surface and invites us to rethink our ethical attitude towards the planet. Its artistic practice involves a series of strategies that subvert the logic of capitalist exploitation and counter the excessive pursuit of financial gain.

𝑰 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆 is currently up at Nordnorsk Kunstnersenter in Svolvær until September 21st 🔥 Curated by @vanina.saracino and @adrianaalves737 , this show is part of a long-term project called 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒓 𝑲𝒊𝒏 that explores the sun not only as a physical and energetic force, but as a cultural and cosmological presence. Through a series of pyropoetic works, we as artists get to explore what it means to ignite, to burn, to resist burning, and to reimagine energy. These stories are told through situated practices: from Sámi campfires to Arctic extractivism, from California’s vast solar fields to the public square in Svolvær.
Thanks to Nordnorsk Kunstnersenter for the invitation, Nina Nadig, Mihaly Stefanovocz, Aldea- Center for Contemporary Art, Design and Technology, and Kjell Ove Storvik for the documentation 📸 🧡
