We’re back with another Picnic & a Movie (in the Eastside Cemeteries!) To honor the tradition of families lunching in the cemeteries, we’re inviting San Antonio to enjoy a free evening in the beautiful Historic Eastside Cemeteries. Bring your own picnics, blankets, and chairs, and enjoy some cinema magic under the stars. We’ll be screening the original 1995 adventure classic, Jumanji. This free event also celebrates our ongoing work with the Cemetery Steward Program — a dedicated volunteer initiative that cares for and preserves these sacred spaces. We’re continuing our Preservation Month events with the 90’s classic, Jumanji! 📅When: Saturday, May 16 | gates open 7 PM 📍Where: City Cemetery #1, located along Paso Hondo Street between S Monumental and S Palmetto Streets 🎟 Cost: FREE 🍿Free popcorn while supplies last! 🍦Ice cream will be available onsite for purchase. The movie will begin shortly after dark (approximately 8:20 PM). Join us next Saturday, May 16, for a hands on, interactive event dedicated to one of the most essential—and often overlooked—elements of caring for older homes: window repair.   Interactive Studio: Wood Window Repair  📅 Saturday, May 16, 9:00am - 12:00pm  📍Villa Finale Museum & Gardens   Attendees will be able to see an up-close look at the tools and techniques needed to repair wood windows. There will be several craftspeople showing off a variety of window repair techniques, including glass repair, deglazing and reglazing, and much more.   Whether you’re a longtime steward of an older home or interested in repair skills generally, this event offers approachable guidance, expert insight, and real, hands-on experience. Come ready to learn, ask questions, and build confidence in caring for wood windows. Light refreshments will be served.
