Recognize this iconic painting? 🎨 Today, we’re remembering Adan Hernandez and his artistic legacy. Juanito is one of several dozen paintings that San Antonio artist Adan Hernandez made for the 1993 film Blood In, Blood Out. Hernandez’s paintings for the film are credited with drawing greater attention to the work of Chicano artists at a time when few had received broad recognition. The Estate of Adan Hernandez preserves and promotes the artistic legacy of Chicano artist Adan Hernandez, whose works became internationally recognized through their connection to Chicano culture and the iconic film Blood In, Blood Out. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Hernandez created powerful paintings that reflected identity, community, street culture, spirituality, and the lived experiences of Mexican-American life in the American Southwest. Over the years, his work found its way into important private collections, cultural institutions, and the visual memory of an entire generation.
