In his 1940 New Year letter, W.H.Auden talks of the Ghost of Threadneedle street aka Sarah Whitehead as featured in my work T R A C E S. With just over a year since its premiere, here’s a little clip to get the new year started... Inspired by the true story of an influencer who spent time in a darkened anechoic chamber where he saw rats, heard a train, before a woman in white appeared in the room, T R A C E S explores the possibility that the woman could have been Sarah Whitehead who was just 19 years old when in 1811 she lost her beloved brother when he was executed at the Old Bailey for fraud. Not wanting her to learn of his demise he had left instructions she not be told which led to Sarah enquiring for him every day at the Bank of England where he had worked. In my work, she mistakes the influencer sitting in the room as her brother. To listen in full - head to my bandcamp page. A joyful evening which ended in a squeeze into the lift at our latest Hatch. I think we were all feeling pretty wrung out by the day and the heat before we started, but once again together we found a really special creative energy workshopping, experimenting and laughing together. Brilliant to have new participants @oskarmccarthy @owainpark and @rubyclawrence with us too. 🙌
