The crowds have left and the courtyards are quiet, but the energy of Sikka 2026 stays with us. ✨ Working with @DubaiCulture on the 14th edition of the SIKKA Art & Design Festival wasn’t just a project on a timeline for our team. Behind the scenes are 500+ creatives who gather together each year as family, fueled by months of experimentation and late- night dialogues. This collective spirit activated 19 houses and nearly 1,000 workshops, making the festival unforgettable for all ages. From vibrant markets to a heartfelt celebration of Hag El Leila, every detail was a labor of love. To the curators, artists, and our incredible team: thank you for the passion you poured into every corner of the festival. We leave this edition with a deeper appreciation for our city and its creative community. The past couple of weeks UAE-based creatives were invited to the intensive Interactive Public Art: From Fundamentals to Prototypes program. Offered by @sikkaplatform in collaboration with the Dubai Public Art – Education Programme. The workshop was designed as a strategic capacity-building experience. It equipped participants with essential tools, skills, and methodologies spanning the full arc of interactive public art creation, from ideation and narrative development to spatial design, technology integration, prototyping, and final presentation. The program aimed to seed long-term skill development in the local creative ecosystem, enabling future independent or collective public art practices. Throughout the Curatorial Foundations Program developed by @sikkaplatform & @dubaiculture in collaboration with @nodecenter , participants are discovering key curatorial skills through hands-on workshops and collaborative exercises, including a curatorial concept development, artist selection, exhibition design and planning, and promotion. Moments from the graduation of the Art + Tech Collaborative Training Programme. Developed by @realiity.art and supported by @sikkaplatform & @dubaiculture the program explored art-tech history, programming, electronics, and fabrication, encouraging participants to create interactive installations that merged technology and creativity. While navigating Dubai’s evolving tech-art landscape, the participants were provided with a space to experiment, grow, and nurture their emerging talents. Last night, we set up 9 interactive installations with a cohort of UAE based artists, a week from ideation to prototypes. House 436 - Al Shindagha. Screenprinting Unlocked wrapped up last week with an exhibition showcasing the participants’ process, experimentation and outcomes, where over a 10-day intensive program, they were introduced, in-depth, to the technical and conceptual foundations of screenprinting. A look back at Harakat Sikka, where participants gained hands-on experience across all stages of the animation production pipeline pre-production, production, post-production, and distribution. Creatives from multiple disciplines worked on short experimental animation pieces using a range of techniques. Their journey culminated in a final presentation and screening of their exciting outcome.
