For visual artist and poet Emilygrace Angelie Daniolco Lerio — aka HOEBAD, being a Filipina creative means claiming your voice while carrying the weight of where you come from. In a world chasing likes and viral moments, she reminds us that real artistry lives in the quiet — showing up, creating, and continuing even when no one is watching. Her work “Manok Ko!” reflects that spirit: a Filipina betting on her own dreams. Because creativity isn’t fame. It’s a verb. And kindness is not weakness.

The Philippine Art and Culture Exchange (PACE) Creatives Consortium presents Filipino artists and cultural workers in the diaspora. Introducing.... Daniolco Lerio, also known as HOEBAD, a Filipina visual artist, designer, and poet based in the UAE. A Cum Laude graduate of Far Eastern University, she was selected for the SIKKA 2025 Screenprinting Unlocked Program by UAE Arts & Culture and is a recipient of the Grazia Middle East Project Modest Award (2018) and the DDFC Emerging Designer Award (2019) Hoebad (pronounced “Hubad” in Tagalog, meaning “naked”) challenges audiences to confront their personal truths, embracing authenticity and self-acceptance. She inspires viewers to live by their #hoebadnakatotohanan and embrace their own unapologetic #nakedtruths Her practice explores Fleshscapes and themes of body positivity, presenting both surreal and abstract interpretations of the human experience. Through her work, HOEBAD seamlessly interweaves mind, body, and soul into visually compelling narratives. Beyond art, she is deeply committed to sustainability and inclusivity, weaving her Filipino heritage into her practice while reflecting on themes of displacement and belonging. @yutakabilin

The first destination the artist chose was to see Mona Lisa, a work she believes no one should live a lifetime without encountering in person.
