Duette Studio, founded in Dubai by Fuad Ali and Rahat Kunakunova, is an independent creative lab working across art, design, and spatial practice. For DXB Store at Art Dubai’s Special Edition, the studio leads the spatial design, creating a modular environment inspired by temporary structures, scaffolding systems, and the city’s material landscape. Alongside the spatial concept, Duette Studio is also presenting a series of limited-edition works.

First launched in 2011, DXB Store supports local makers, designers and creative practitioners working across disciplines — bringing together independent production with a focus on accessibility, creative authorship, and local production.
The platform returns to champion grassroots practices and limited-edition works developed within the UAE’s creative community.
The 2026 edition will feature works by creative practitioners, independent brands and creative collaborations rooted in and made across the UAE feature newly produced works, exclusive drops and collectible pieces created specially for DXB Store at Art Dubai’s Special Edition.
The spatial experience for DXB Store is developed in collaboration with Duette Studio.

Looking back at the UAE Designer Exhibition 2025, its sixth edition brought together a new generation of UAE-based designers.
A curated feature within the fair, it offers early-career talent a platform for visibility and commercial opportunity, connecting them directly with industry, collectors and a global design audience.
Supported by @dubaiculture , last year’s edition featured over 30 designers presenting new works under the guidance of mentor @nadadebs
From product and furniture to material-led experimentation, the exhibition reflected the breadth and ambition of emerging designers shaping the UAE’s design landscape.

Last Year, Dubai Design Week welcomed Six Degrees Offsite, a showcase of graduate and alumni work from the College of Architecture, Art and Design at the American University of Sharjah.
Spanning architecture, interior design, design management, multimedia design and visual communication, the exhibition reflected the rigour and creative ambition that defines CAAD’s approach, brought to life alongside a week of talks and open sessions.

The DXB Store is back and now accepting proposals.
First established in 2011, DXB Store is a curated platform supporting UAE based makers, creators and independent brands across disciplines. Returning in 2026 as part of Art Dubai’s Special Edition, taking place 14 to 17 May, the platform will bring together a focused group of contributors to showcase new products and limited editions, with an emphasis on accessibility, creative authorship and local production.

Art Dubai, the pre-eminent art fair for the Middle East, takes place 15 - 17 May 2026. A transliteration of the Arabic word for whispering, washwasha is an onomatopoeic word that suggests sound at the threshold of audibility. The exhibition looks at contemporary soundscapes in the UAE, shaped by migration, transience, and long-term ties to the land.

We joined the Anti Doomscroll Stroll Club in Dubai this weekend, a community led concept by @faizalr31 and @thekarak_
A quiet but compelling project that invites people to disconnect from social media and reconnect through physical exploration and social interaction.
Shaped by places from his own childhood in Satwa, the route moves through one of Dubai’s long established neighbourhoods, passing its architecture, local cafés and hidden spots, while supporting businesses that have been part of the area for up to 40 years.
The walk ends with a social gathering, bringing people together through shared experience and conversation.

House of Artisans Design Competition returns for its second edition, inviting UAE-based designers to engage with traditional Emirati crafts through contemporary practice.
Rooted in a dialogue between heritage and innovation, the competition offers a structured development journey in collaboration with skilled artisans, culminating in a selection of winning works with opportunities for acquisition and international exposure.
Last year’s winning pieces travelled from Abu Dhabi to global stages, continuing to position local craft within a wider design discourse.
Submissions are open across furniture, product design and decorative art.

Looking back at Downtown Design 2025 Doodle and the Gang, the Dubai-based studio founded by Egyptian sisters Mentalla and Asmaa Said, brought their signature blend of illustration, storytelling, and concept-driven design to the fair through a collaboration with Hands Carpets.
The collection titled ‘Postcards’, explored memory, movement, and place, translating cities that shaped the designers’ lives into a series of expressive, handcrafted rugs. Rooted in heritage craftsmanship and articulated through a contemporary design language.
