Been waiting to share this VFX breakdown of my favorite project 📦 When I had the idea of this crazy shot of Kurtis on a mountain-graveyard of broken guitars about to get flooded by a giant tsunami during a thunderstorm, all in one drone take, I immediately called @damienfx to ask him if I was nuts. 47 versions later, a lot of work and dedication later, @rockinvfx.studio brought this madness to life. I am beyond proud of this incredible adventure with people I can call friends. Thank you to master DP @samuelesselinckx (doing the doggo voice in slide 15) @saintlwanga who filmed these incredible BTS, @brendononeal as the smooth (drone) operator, and @eudesquittelier who give this crazy look. Lorsque @kurtisrwells m’a fait écouter le morceau HOLY WATER pour la toute première fois, j’ai immédiatemment eu une vision de lui, debout sur une montagne de guitares brisées, comme un cimetière infini d’échecs. Je voulais que cette guitare soit son chemin de croix, mais aussi ce qui lui permettrait de toucher le nirvana. En faisant des recherches, j’ai eu l’idée d’ajouter cette touche mythologique avec la vague géante, comme un déluge. Je voulais que l’on ressente la solitude, l’épuisement, la rage puis l’abandon, avant de rebondir et finalement toucher du doigt cette grâce, cet accomplissement comme une explosion. C’est la parfaite métaphore du processus artistique et de ce qu’est la douleur.
