1yr post grad. 🤯 It’s been a crazy first year since graduating, with dreams, goals and expectations that were initially laid out, seemingly set, but this past year, life decided to take a couple detours and instead laid out the most unlinear paths I’ve been on so far.😵‍💫 It was a year filled with so much uncertainty and confusion, from the weight of the world and messy country down to the individual level of re-figuring out and reprioritizing career and dream goals to even realizing how difficult it can be to see friends and loved ones again post grad.🥲 It’s the balance of the feeling the utmost pride of friends or loved one’s personal and professional successes versus dealing with imposter syndrome at times, and the balance of chasing dreams at one’s own pace and “but will I ever get to that level?”🤔 It’s also been a year of unlearning some habits and learning for personal growth while rediscovering old passions and igniting new passions. And hence the chronic sidequesting, chasing the feeling of keep the engines running but getting the reminders to take it easy and relax more. 💌 Love Letter Street Photography Postcards of my parent’s hometowns Guangzhou 广州, Shanghai 上海and Hangzhou 杭州 🫶 During my first visit since 7-9 yrs ago, I wanted to try and capture the breathing moments of what life is like in these cities, that acted as my hometowns during childhood summers with some I’ve already shared and photos I haven’t been able to share; trying to do more of that now even though I’m still relatively new to street photography in general🥹 This is part of a series of creative side projects and mini-short films I want to do that serve as love letters to the Motherland since I wasn’t able to fully embrace my cultural identity unapologetically until my college years. Attempted a cinematic MV vlog for the first time! 😅 I had this idea in mind for a long while after spending time with my family, and as a child of immigrant parents, I realized that they too are really living for the first time too and trying to figure things out along the way - sometimes trips with them can be a lil hectic but the more I spend time with them, the more I cherish that time knowing that time is finite whether it’s watching them slowly age or how they’d get news of who left this world already. And we’re not going to get that time back. While I’ve been reflecting on how I spend my own time, and with the uncertainty of time and my future, I learned how important it is to just embrace that phase and find the beauty in it, whether it’s to slow down and be more present, and even go on trips with the family. And whenever we’re on trips like these, they bring out the youthfulness of my family again (they’re really just children at heart too 🤭) This song also captured those feelings too so I wanted to use it to reflect the memories I have of these trips from the last 2 years with them 🥹🫶 The way this took a while to figure out from the mini story that I wanted to tell to recording the voiceover (in Mandarin mind you - I realized my voice is usually at higher range whenever I speak it lol 😵‍💫) adding some sound effects and visual effects to the color grading and more (i only used Edits to sync the music + fonts ahhah) but while it was a learning curve, it was also a lot of fun making this (finally) - had to just rip off the band aid and start making projects like this to fill my cup than being a perfectionist and overthinking it with decision paralysis lol (And if you have more feedback on how I can improve my editing skills, please send them my way 🙇🏻‍♀️) 📸: @lumix lumixusa #visualdiary #cinematicvlog #aapiparents #aanhpiheritagemonth #aapi

2025 is coming to an end and I wanted to take some to reflect the year starting with this NY trip I got to do with my parents last fall (lol) and had the idea to use one of my favorite songs of all time for this lil MV edit last year but didn’t get around to editing it until recently This song honestly helped me get through the difficult moments in life + on repeat for me this year too when shit hits the fan sometimes and felt like falling somewhat behind in life but it was a reminder to myself to take things slow especially when I’m always out and about but don’t take much time for myself to just relax And this trip with the parents is something I always want to remember because every time we do go on a trip together, I’m being reminded that they’re slowly aging in some ways and trying to cherish the time as much as I can left with them 🥹❤️ (and it’s NY!
