What if every time we built something, the world got better? That’s the ambition behind our work, and the challenge we embraced. Our clients asked us to go beyond sustainability, so we have. We explored an approach to development that restores more than it removes - creating places where ecosystems and communities can repair, thrive, and support life. Drawing on twenty-five years’ expertise in place design to benefit planet and people, we’ve undertaken a 2-year research and collaboration programme. Today, we’re proud to share the outcome - say hello to the Planit Regenerative Design Tool. Follow the link in our bio to find out more about our Regenerative Design Tool, read a 10-page introduction or sign up to our Regenerative Design Newsletter. #regenerativedesign #landscapearchitecture #urbandesign

Over the past couple of months, we have loved seeing Everton Football Club fans embrace their new home at Bramley-Moore Dock. From Everton’s first Premier League match of the season to the Everton 10k this past weekend, the energy in and around the new stadium has been incredible. Seeing the plaza come alive with fans has been a highlight for all of us at Planit. We’ve been part of this journey since 2017, designing the public realm for the nearly 53,000-seat Hill Dickinson Stadium. Built over a historic dock on the edge of the River Mersey, the stadium sits within Peels Liverpool Waters masterplan, a project we’ve been lead on since 2013. It’s this relationship between stadium and the dock that inspired the materials, movement, and atmosphere of the external concourses and public spaces - especially the distinctive paving. The Liverpool waterfront’s challenging microclimate also heavily influenced our approach. As one of the windiest urban environments in the UK, careful consideration was needed. A five-mile study, over two years informed how we could create a soft, functional landscape that complements the stadium’s operations. Early test planting allowed us to understand how species adapted to site conditions long before construction began. Subtle nods to Goodison Park’s heritage were woven into the details of our bespoke benches, balustrades and cycle stands, giving fans a true sense of familiarity and home. Sean Swarbrick, Principal Landscape Architect and lifelong Evertonian, has led the project from the start: “Having the chance to lead the public realm design for our incredible new stadium on the banks of the Mersey has been a dream come true. Our vision was to create a space that celebrates the area’s history while embracing modern, inclusive design. From preserving the original dock wall, train tracks, and mooring bollards, to adding fan-friendly features like The Everton Way - we’ve woven together past and present.” A huge thank you to our partners and collaborators: @everton @evertonstadium Developments Limited, @meisarchitects @laingorourke @bdp_com BDP Pattern, @buro_happold @cbre @we_are_endpoint @gt_llp

Today marks the re-opening of Milton Keynes Station Square - one of the largest public realm spaces in the UK. Alongside the stunning new mural ‘Walk With Your Dreams’ created by renowned artist, @yinka_ilori Planit’s London Landscape Architecture vision has been integral to transforming 28,000 square metres of flat hardscape and lawns into a welcoming and biodiverse space - that can be used by locals and visitors all year round. Hannah Vincent, Principal Landscape Architect at Planit comments “We knew from the outset that the planting had to frame and complement this vast space and to work with, and not against, Yinka’s striking artwork. We started by designing a ring of 22 very tall 18m high trees to frame the underfoot image, to form a canopy overhead and bring the square to ‘human scale’. A backdrop of plant species choreographed to complement the artwork’s vibrancy wraps the space in swathes of colour.” Throughout the rest of the square, a matrix of trees, dense shrubs and prairie grasses will provide year-round structure to the space whilst reducing the pressures on drought and maintenance. The seasons will be welcomed with colourful species that create clouds, washes and pops of texture from extensive bulb planting in the spring, rich herbaceous plants throughout the summer and further flowering species during autumn and winter.  Thank you to MKDP (Milton Keynes Development Partnership), @miltonkeynescitycouncil , and the amazing team at @_zetteler_ for sharing the story. Nature is rarely described as ‘mega’. But the reaction to the launch of @cyanlines last week, which unveiled the plan to create 100 miles of connected parks, green spaces and waterfronts across Manchester and Greater Manchester was definitely mega. Our very own @peteswiftysan and @tombloxhammbe introduced their joint venture to the 600+ packed room at @factory_international with the drive to deliver the vision from political leaders and launch speakers @cllrbevcraig and @andyburnhamgm Together, the determined passion and commitment was echoed by three private Founding Partners (Hilary Brett from @fecuk_ , Mike Innerdale from @nationaltrust and Martyn Evans from @landsecgroup ) The vision is simple: over the next 10 years the city will become more connected through existing waterways and green spaces, bringing us all closer to nature and nature closer to us. It will create a greener, healthier and happier place to live and work in. If you want to find out more, or want to check out the Komoot routes, visit the project website If you’re a business, philanthropist, charity, volunteer and are keen to collectively transform the city, please also visit the website: - together we can make it happen. Thank you to the engaging launch speakers: Mike Innerdale, National Trust | Hilary Brett, FEC UK | Martyn Evans Hon FRIBA, Landsec | Kunle Barker | Councillor Bev Craig, Leader of @manchestercitycouncil | The Mayor Andy Burnham | John McGrath, Factory International Thank you to the whole team involved: Steve Connor and Kennedy Campbell, @creativeconcern_ | @lisaashurst , Ashurst Communications | Sarah Henshall and Susie Scott, @weareurbansplash | Dave Sedgwick, @studiodbd | Rob Evans and Chris Roberts, @withloveproject | Clare Dentith, Molly Deakin, @lydiakirkart , @lukedfawcett , Planit

When cities dream big, they need a story. Here’s the one we told for Cyan Lines. Big ideas often die because people can’t see them. They sound abstract, distant, ungraspable. And when you’re talking about reimagining 100 miles of a city, rivers, canals, viaducts, parks, it risks being just another vision document gathering dust. That’s why we Pete Swift, Tom Bloxham and Bev Craig asked us to make a film for Cyan Lines. To make the case for a future Manchester that’s greener, bluer, more connected, and more inclusive. Last night the launch of Cyan Lines meant this bold idea wasn’t abstract anymore. It felt real. Tangible. Possible. Did you go to the event? What did you think? #placefeel #peopleandplace #cyanlines

We’re delighted to hear that Stockport8 has secured planning permission, a landmark £350m regeneration project in Stockport town centre. Our imagery brought to life the first phase designed by Shedkm for ECF, delivering 1,200 energy efficient homes; a connected, walkable neighbourhood and sustainable design features that reflect the ambition of Stockport Council and English Cities Fund. Phase one is due to start on site in 2026 and complete in 2028, with the following phase expected to commence in 2029. It’s exciting to see the project moving forward and to have played a part in visualising a scheme that will transform the town centre and deliver much-needed homes as part of the wider £1bn Town Centre West regeneration. Congrats to everyone involved in this transformational development! Planit’s Co-Founder and Chairman, Ed Lister will show you round our final Planit Studio Story. He reveals its importance in delivering Planit’s Regenerative mission – how we think, the way we work and how we can design for a more balanced future. “Our best work is definitely ahead of us.” Ed Lister. This follows on from Camp Standish, our annual company get-together, which saw 90 Planiters set up camp in our studio grounds. As a team we expanded our knowledge on regenerative design principles. This next studio story details our own regenerative knowledge that we keep developing to help us deliver our purpose: Designing For All Life to Thrive in Balance. #regenerative #regenerativepractice #learninganddevelopment
