BROADSIDE I wanted to capture the sport of speedway in a way that felt raw and powerful. A visual collision of metal and dirt. Shot across two different 16mm film stocks and combined with hand-crafted animation, this short film was about grit. Sound is a massive part of the sporting experience, with several roaring engines hurtling around a small circuit in as little as 60 seconds. These bikes have no brakes. It was important to me to humanise the fearless riders at @ipswichwitches and their contributions were invaluable. We’re chuffed to welcome composer and sound designer @patricklee.sound to the growing Brother Music team. Patrick joins co-founder @hugoellingham to broaden and expand our musical offering across both short and long-form projects, alongside producers @mollyjessica and @cle0jackson . Patrick will be bringing with him his 12 years of experience - ranging from sound design and mixing on long-form content for the BBC and Discovery Channel, to crafting music and sound for high-profile TVCs with Nike, eBay and Puma. Hugo comments: “Patrick’s been our go-to freelancer for a number of years, so to have him join the team is incredibly exciting. We align very closely with sound design and mixing approaches, but specialise in different composition styles, so the scale and breadth of projects that we’ll be able to take on together will be a big step up”. Patrick joined Brother Music at the end of May, and we’re thrilled to have him already in the midst of several exciting projects. Watch this space.
