Domestic Disco Artist Highlight: Leonard Bessemer
Leonard Bessemer of Objects for Objects has two works in Domestic Disco: the polished stainless steel Wave Bench (which doubles, perhaps unintentionally but beautifully as a percussion instrument), and the Landlord Shelf—a polished aluminum wall shelf where the mounting holes aren’t hidden, they’re celebrated. The name nods to the patchwork your landlord might face if you use all eight. It looks good with something on it. It looks good with nothing on it.
Domestic Disco is on view through April 24.

It’s in Atwater …the one in Los Angeles. Not the one in the Central Valley. Fun fact. I grew up in Merced and the neighboring small town was called Atwater. It had an Air Force base but then the base closed. Not sure what it’s like now. I haven’t been back in a long time.

If someone asked the 18 month old me if he thought he’d ever be apart of Wallpaper’s 400 or any list…besides Forbes that is because everyone gets on the Forbes list and as you get older the more chances you have and the less competition there is. I’m aiming for the Forbes 100 over 100—I digress, 18 month old me wouldn’t have the words to express his feelings.

It’s been real @phillipsauction . After a year long residency at Philllips new gallery space in West Hollywood- this bench is coming home.
