🏙️ The
@musicvenuetrust campaign to introduce a voluntary £1 levy on each ticket for at arenas, stadiums + venues over 5k capacity has been making good progress, but is currently being hugely delayed by one of the UK’s biggest promoters…
>>>
@livenationuk <<<
Despite a UK market share of over 60%, and actually agreeing to contribute over a year ago, Live Nation are the only major UK concert promoter who has not yet added the levy to their ticket sales.
@sjmconcerts &
@kilimanjaro.live have been the 2 biggest adopters so far, with
@aeg_presents also doing well.
A drop in the ocean for Live Nation, but literally a loss of millions of pounds for Grass Roots Music Venues, Promoters and Artists.
The money raised from the £1 levy goes to the
@livetrustcharity which redistributes to grass roots music venues, promoters and artists. For large scale shows, the £1 is included by the promoter as a show cost rather than an additional cost for the customer, although It is very easy for smaller promoters/events who want to contribute to add the £1 donation to the ticket link (I have done it on 2 tours).
If you are (or know) a high profile artist, then see if you can request agents/managers/promoters etc to get involved with the £1 levy scheme. The more of us make the simple moves to include it in every ticket, the bigger the momentum and pressure on those who are trying to avoid doing so.
Don’t you just love big business?
