I molded it, painted it and I also cast up his face in silicone. The bug alien we got from Tippett Studios. Kevin Yagher has us make a bunch of these as gifts for some of the production team including Paul Verhoeven. We preprogrammed a little audio recording of the guy screaming by someone yelling in the shop, at the same time crushing a Pepsi bottle to get a nice crunch effect. Ahhhh…... Onyx Forge Studio is proud to reveal that it had the privilege and the incredible opportunity to build “The Hellstone” for @larianstudios On November 28, a dark and nightmarish monolith mysteriously appeared in the desertscape of Joshua tree. On the surface of the Hellstone, hundreds of tortured souls struggle to break free, forever trapped on the surface. A cryptic posting on X revealed the coordinates to the stone and a connection to a possible new video game. Crowds of people found their way to the stone and speculations about the Hellstone went viral! The Hellstone would later appear in downtown Los Angeles at the Peacock Theater. There, it was on full display at the 2025’s The Game Awards, an event celebrating the year’s best video games. At the event, Larian Studios revealed a spectacular cinematic trailer for their upcoming game, Divinity. Appearing at the end of the trailer was the Hellstone. This was a 5-month project involving over 100 artists and technicians from Onyx Forge Studios and teams from other industries. The statue stands almost 14 feet tall by 17 feet across. Featuring lights that appear to be subtly breathing, smoke for the burning obsidian spikes and the low rumble of a hellish soundscape.
