The Peacockstrument comes to life, the first #foundstrument #soundstrument of its kind in the Rohingya refugee camps with the @rohingya_artolution . The peacock represents hope for the future, and a peacock feather is given to every child when they come of age within the Rohingya tradition. The interactive musical sculpture is made of hundreds of bottles and cans collected from the local community as a community cleanup, and is brought to life through musical collaborative performances. Our team built a creature performance suit out of recycled fabrics that were going to be thrown away from local factories, and then put on a performance for all of the local children. The essential nature of play, expression and imagination is key to being able to have locally led inspiration, inspiring resilience every day. The tree of life is growing from the roots filled with faces of the ancestors of the local community emerging from a braided trunk and culminating in a face looking up towards the future. We’re simply in awe of the recently completed “Village of Generations” public art installation at @nychagram Amsterdam Addition!
The 10,000 sq. ft. mural was produced by Amsterdam Addition residents with Lincoln Center, @artolution , and @communityfundnyc , led by public artist @maxfrieder .
The piece represents the community’s vibrant arts and music culture as a beautiful reflection of the neighborhood.

Final mural of “Unity in the Community” now lives on the front of the Clay Ave Public housing Community center in the South Bronx at the corner of 168th and Clay Ave. This mural is a story where the older generation represented through a grandmother who had passed away from the local community, inspiring her grandson through images of the dreams of the children and families from the community as well as the symbols of the sustainable development goals, and the importance of the environment for future generations.
This artwork was a concept by the local community and a beautiful testament to the power of narratives created by communities coming together through storytelling. This is the first half of the two wall mural , and stay tuned for the second half of the story!

Today, MAR & JACKSON had the pleasure of attending the “Celebrate Your Community Mural” ribbon cutting and community celebration at the Claremont Consolidated Houses and it was truly beautiful to witness.
This event was a reminder of what happens when residents, artists, organizations, and community come together with purpose. Through art, storytelling, and culture, this mural now stands as a symbol of creativity, resilience, environmental awareness, and the power of community voices.
The energy in the room and throughout the space was inspiring. From the vibrant artwork to the families, youth, and residents proudly celebrating together, it was clear that this project was created with love and intention.
Congratulations to Artolution, Public Housing Community Fund, NYCHA, The New York Climate Exchange, the residents, and every artist and volunteer who helped bring this vision to life. Thank you for creating a space where community pride shines so brightly.
