"It's just a mental block, they should push through and win!" For decades, athletes have been forced to prioritize winning above all, often at the cost of their mental well-being. Their talents are extraordinary! Yet, they are human beings facing challenges on and off the game. We are deeply inspired by global athletes who shared their journeys and spoke about prioritizing one's mental health and well-being! When someone opens up about their struggles, it gives a voice to millions fighting similar battles. Let’s break the silence and remind ourselves that it’s okay to not be okay. And that, it will get better! We would like to leave you with a simple question: If we push ourselves at the cost of our mental health, are we really winning? #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthquotes #mentalhealthsupport #dĂ©pression #mentalhealthinolympicsports #olympics #olympics2024 #wellbeing #mentalwellness #socialemotionallearning

If you know Labhya, you know we are relentless doers. Every single day, our team shows up wholeheartedly to ensure the wellbeing of our children. But as an action-oriented organisation, it is easy to forget: our wellbeing matters too. And how we care for ourselves deeply shapes how we show up for our children. So at our annual team stepback, we paused together. We celebrated each other and our collective journey. We dreamt big and laughed louder. We sat quietly by the river
and also spotted tigers in the Corbett reserve! We danced, dressed up as our favourite movie characters, and rediscovered what it means to be playful, present, and human. Here’s to a team that leads with both joy and urgency. Here’s to the incredible humans building a global movement for children’s wellbeing. Catch a glimpse of our Team Stepback, and meet the hearts behind Labhya!

Last week, we asked you a simple question: “What were you told as a child struggling to focus in class?” And most of you answered: “Nobody really asked me.” The truth is, for many of us growing up, the systems to support children emotionally simply did not exist in the ways they should have. At Labhya, we are working to address this gap alongside our government partners. Today, 2.4 million children experience a daily wellbeing class, which helps them feel calm, focus and learn better. At the Skoll World Forum, Labhya and Fonds d’Innovation pour le DĂ©veloppement (FID) co-hosted a Marmalade event to share findings from the world’s largest randomized controlled trial on children’s wellbeing. During the conversation, Dr. Kevin Carney, Principal Investigator of the study, brought us back to a reality education systems have overlooked for far too long: the child’s state of mind. Children do not leave stress, poverty, or uncertainty outside the classroom door. They carry them quietly into school every single day, shaping how they focus, participate, and learn. This is why wellbeing matters. Not as an “add-on” to education, but as a foundation for learning itself. Currently, 2.4 million children in India begin their day not with math or science, but with a wellbeing class. They pause. They breathe. They learn to understand themselves. And the impact of this is not only deeply human, it is now backed by rigorous evidence. The world’s largest study on children’s wellbeing is showing something powerful: when children feel calmer, they focus and learn better. ‘What happens in your body right before your final exams?’ - Teacher ‘My stomach hurts.’ ‘I bite my nails.’ ‘My chest feels heavy.’ ‘My legs shake.’ As children began sharing in their wellbeing class, they realized they were not alone. Most of their friends felt the same fear, worry, and anxiety before exams, but had never spoken about it before. So the teacher asked them another question: “The next time you feel this way, what will you do?” For our children, this is the first time someone has helped them notice what they are feeling, and understand it without shame or judgment. Raquel Mata leads global philanthropy at the Rare Impact Fund. For over a decade, she has worked to expand access to mental health care. Last week at the Skoll World Forum, she brought us back to an urgent truth: Mental health support is still out of reach for millions of children. The language of mental health and wellbeing has not yet arrived in most communities. And there are not enough professionals. What if support was built into the systems children already move through? Most children are already in classrooms. With teachers they see every day. A daily wellbeing class, delivered by public school teachers, makes preventative mental health support accessible for all children. Wellbeing becomes part of the school day, so every child can access it - not by chance, but by design. To learn more about these classes, visit our website! We are immensely grateful to the Rare Impact Fund’s continued partnership in making mental health support and wellbeing accessible to millions of children across India! #skoll2026 #wellbeing #education #children #learningimpact

“Children should not have to be lucky to be supported.” - Raquel Mata Last week at the Skoll World Forum, Labhya and Fonds d’Innovation pour le DĂ©veloppement co-hosted a Marmalade session to share findings from the world’s largest randomized controlled trial on children’s wellbeing. The conversation opened with an inspiring keynote by Raquel Mata from @selenagomez @rarebeauty Impact Fund! Our CEO, @richa.sh.gupta then shared findings from the two-year RCT in public schools, which shows evidence on how wellbeing unlocks learning! An enriching panel discussion followed, with Dr. Kevin Carney (Principal Investigator), Juliette Seban (Executive Director, FID), and Richa, thoughtfully moderated by Amina Zakhnouf. The conversation highlighted what these findings mean for policy, philanthropy, and practice. We are deeply grateful to the FID team for being our anchor partner and graciously supporting the study from the very beginning! A huge shoutout to Barbara, Laetitia, and Arthur from the FID team! Special thanks to Dr. Avi (principal investigator) who couldn’t join us in person! Deepest gratitude to our champions and everyone in the room who continue to invest in children’s wellbeing! Read more about the findings on our website!

What did we find from the world’s largest study on children’s wellbeing? At the Skoll World Forum, Labhya and the Fonds d’Innovation pour le DĂ©veloppement (FID) will be co-hosting a Marmalade event to share these findings and reflect on what they mean for policy, philanthropy, and practice. Over two years, in partnership with state government systems and J-PAL, this randomized controlled trial tested what happens when a daily wellbeing class is integrated into public schools. The findings challenge a fundamental assumption:Wellbeing is not peripheral to learning. It is foundational to it. If you are in Oxford, we would love to have you join the conversation! 📍 23 April | 9:30–11:00 AM 📍 The Story Museum Woodshed Theatre, Oxford 🔗 Event details: /g74qwull?locale=en-IN #SkollWorldForum #Skoll2026 #children #wellbeing #education #impact
