‘MAYA: The Birth of a Superhero – Original Score’ from @bishiofficial is out today. Bishi’s fourth studio album is taken from the acclaimed immersive film of the same name. ‘MAYA: The Birth of a Superhero’ is a wildly imaginative 30-minute virtual reality animated film forming part of award-winning activist and transmedia artist Poulomi Basu’s law-changing multimedia project ‘Blood Speaks’, exploring menstrual exile and violence against women in South Asia. Co-directed by award-winning director CJ Clarke, the story follows a South Asian girl navigating adolescence, the awakening of her sexuality and the discovery of her inner strength. Blending Hindustani and Western classical traditions with electronic experimentation, the score showcases Bishi’s four-octave vocal range, electric sitar, avant-garde textures and immersive cinematic soundscapes. “Music is a multi-sensory, synaesthetic experience for me,” says Bishi. “When I see visuals, particularly moving images, I hear melodies, rhythms and textures in my mind.” To mark the release, Bishi will present four special live performances across the UK in June 2026, featuring voice, sitar, electronics, live strings and bespoke visuals from the creators of the film manipulated live to create an immersive concert experience. ‘MAYA: The Birth of a Superhero – Original Score’ is available now via Gryphon Records. MAYA became an opportunity to build an entire sonic world from the ground up. The score combines voice, electric sitar, synthesisers, orchestral textures and experimental electronic production to explore identity, mythology, transformation and inner voice through immersive storytelling. The project has already travelled internationally through immersive and film spaces, and releasing the score as an album feels like an important milestone in my evolution as a composer and artist. Grateful to everybody who supported this work and believed in the vision. The album is now available on all streaming platforms and Bandcamp, with live performances taking place this June in London, Bristol, Leeds and Glasgow. ‘Valley People’ from @robburgermusic is out now via @westernvinyl Featuring Sam Beam of @ironandwinetour , the track emerged from a rare moment of stillness during a demanding stretch of touring. What began as a personal reset, “an effort to stay grounded in my truth”, later found a second life in the HBO series ‘DTF St Louis’ underscoring a pivotal montage. A longtime collaborator with artists ranging from John Zorn to Lucinda Williams, Burger brings a refined, cinematic touch to the track’s patient arrangement. Following its placement in the series, he invited Beam to contribute vocals, deepening its emotional pull. “One of the best parts of making music is working with inspiring collaborators,” says Beam. “Rob has been contributing to my songs for years, so I was thrilled to have the chance to contribute to one of his.” The result is a quietly immersive piece that bridges ambient composition and indie folk, balancing introspection with a gentle sense of forward motion. Electronic producer and multidisciplinary artist @maxcoopermax today unveils his new album ‘Feeling Is Structure’, out today via @meshmeshmesh_ Developed from a commission to create a live show for London’s Royal Albert Hall, the album explores the relationship between physical form and human emotion. Across 10 spatial audio-visual works, Max examines how structure in sound, architecture, biology and art, shapes the way we feel. Built on intricate systems rather than improvisation, ‘Feeling Is Structure’ creates evolving sonic structures, precise in detail, but deeply emotive. The album is accompanied by the release of the new single ‘The Shape of Memory’, a track that distils the project’s core themes into a richly emotive audiovisual piece.
