Very proud that my debut short film has been selected to have its UK premier at BIFA qualifying Cornwall Film Festival on 20th of November 🎞️🎥 When Joshua Parker sent me the script a little over a year ago, he described it as a love letter to his home town, Looe. I could think of nothing more perfect than to premier this film in Cornwall surrounded by some incredible talent from the South West. 🌊⚓️🎣 Circle Hook is a tender story of family, resilience and the quiet ways love endures. Set in the fishing town of Looe, Samuel and his Grandson, Vinnie, navigate the absence of Mary and the financial challenges of maintaining their livelihood in a threatened industry. Here’s what they thought ⬆️ Yesterday I led an Introduction to Character Analysis workshop, starting with an exploration of the elements in our bodies through movement, then a (very) brief overview of the 6 inner attitudes, before moving on to apply the work to text and character in the afternoon. Everyone had the choice to work solo or in pairs, on a published play or to write something from scratch. Everyone’s creativity blew me away! One day wasn’t enough. Wishing you all the best of luck on your next steps ✨

Today we begin week 2 of rehearsals for ‘What Would Jarvis Do?’ by @lauragrilloz coming to @omnibustheatre for a limited WIP run on 24th & 30th March. “Things are not as they seem” What Would Jarvis Do? is an experimental absurd black comedy that explores what happens when we loose things important to us and the chaos that comes when dealing with emotions of guilt, grief and lack of control. “We just sit and sometimes dance and prance around the room and ask what would he do? What would Jarvis do? And that somehow makes us feel a little better.” Likely to be unlike anything you’ve seen at the theatre before, this is an ambitious and unpredictable play, I feel honoured to be directing its very first staging. Big shout out to the rest of the team, as always, theatre is collaboration.
