Ruby Colley’s new single, “Hello Halo” is out now! This is the title track of her upcoming record, featuring performances by vocal ensemble exaudi & Colley on violin. This is Colley’s latest work with EXAUDI Ensemble, and was developed alongside her brother, Paul Colley, who is neurodivergent and non-speaking.
“Hello Halo refers to a key word of Paul's (“hello”) that he's used his whole life. The one word he has not lost…it is his means of connection, saying how he feels, and declaring “I am here!” You can watch the full music video, filmed by @roadfactoryfilms , and stream the track by heading to the link in our bio. #newamrecords #rubycolley #exaudiensemble #hellohalo #newmusic #musicvideo #projectartworks
Hello Halo, the extraordinary, Ivors Classical Awards-nominated album by Ruby Colley has been released today!
Performed by EXAUDI, whose special affinity is for the radical edges of microtonality and experimental music, this album aims to “challenge the idea of language’s status as the cornerstone of what humanity is."
Hello Halo is a composition that was developed alongside Paul Colley, Ruby’s brother, who is neurodivergent and non-verbal. Despite being termed "non-verbal," Paul uses a rich repertoire of sounds and gestures to communicate. Colley transcribed these communication methods, using live voice and recordings of Paul, to make a vocal map of his life and relationships.

Still processing what was a very intense and interesting time at @classicalnext last week.
What I had planned quickly pivoted into chats with people I never would have met otherwise.
My intentions went out the window but what I came away with were some very fruitful lessons that I will take into my work moving forward.
I am proud to have represented Hello Halo in Budapest and to fly the flag for inclusive practice alongside Natasha & Thomas from @londonsymphonyorchestra@lsostlukes who I loved learning about their incredible work with Create. It is expansive and so many wonderful things can come from it for both industry and audiences alike.

Hello Halo is a new new vocal work performed with Exaudi Ensemble, a leading vocal ensemble for new music. The project has been developed alongside Ruby’s brother, Paul Colley, who is neurodivergent & non-speaking.
Despite being termed "non-speaking," Paul uses a rich repertoire of sounds & gestures.
This composition transcribes these communication methods, using live voice and recordings of Paul, to make a vocal map of Pauls life & relationships. It is an intimate examination of communication, both subtle and nuanced, and asks questions of what it means to be human.

See ya 2025. You’ve been terrible, challenging & full of lovely moments too. Grateful for many things. Global horrors & music industry has also changed things irrecoverably this yr. AI can get in the bin. Individually I’ll keep on evolving as creatives are always compelled to do. Collectively I hope we can recognise that our survival lies with each other not against. Here’s to community. Thanks to @christopher.white_ for the snap 📸
Ruby Colley's Hello Album, performed by @exaudivocal and Colley herself on violin, is a love letter and "vocal map" created for and developed with her brother Paul.
Praised as "a suite that explores the intersection between contemporary music and health and wellbeing" (Sequenza 21), Hello Halo has broken the glass ceiling of what it means to be human and how we relate with sound in the context of daily communication.
This work became part of conversations within the @nyusteinhardtmusictherapy Nordoff-Robbins Center for Music Therapy and has left its mark all the way from Hastings. Make sure you head over to the link in our bio and explore this sonic masterpiece today! #hellohalo #rubycolley
Some Hello Halo press:
“it’s rare to encounter something that’s at once deeply personal, richly musical, and socially penetrating”

Had a blast at the @ivorsacademy the other evening. The build up to these things can feel quite overwhelming, so despite not winning this time, my body was quite relieved for the release of tension! Thank you so much for the nomination ✨ & Congratulations to all nominees & winners. ✨It felt really special to spend an evening celebrating one another!
I’m so proud of what Hello Halo has achieved this year, & I can’t wait for it to be out in the world with @newamrecords from tomorrow!
Thank you to everyone who has supported this project from its inception to now. You’ve all played a crucial part in making an idea become a fully realised dream. Thank you
