One year anniversary with the van!
I tossed and turned for months before the keys were in my hand. I wasnât sure if I was ready, or if it was the right time. But I couldnât shake the feeling of wanting to find out. Twelve months and a mountain of new experiences later, Iâm glad I did.
Iâve learned a lot about my craft, business, people, and myself. A living off creative problem solving: the van helps me live that dream every day. But I know itâs not the van thatâs responsibleâitâs me, and all my choices. And I owe many thanks to the many people whoâve helped shape who I am and how I act:
@lowkeygaffer and
@ryho.rentals for all the wisdom you shared with me about the owner operator routeâit was invaluable. To hear and see you both live the kind of life I wanted for myself, gave me the final push I needed.
@stevenwetrich for my first paid gig years ago, which jumpstarted my freelancing career.
@dimasalang_ who introduced me to G&E during COVID, and let me fail in a safe enviornment.
@andrew.lock.545 who told me about his pivots in freelancing at CINEGEAR, which inspired me to pivot and take some risks too.
@colorado_gaffer who answered all my business questions over email, and whose breakdowns were a big help in the beginning.
@shaniagez who always listens to my rambles and lets me lean on her shoulder.
And of course to every DP/Director/Producer/KG/BB/colleague for their trust, input, and warm presence on set.
Hopeful of what is to come!
