Forever Changing the Game. @deionsanders
One of the greatest multi-sport athletes of all time left his mark on the diamond while never forgetting the legends who came before him. As an ode to the man who broke the MLB color barrier, Prime Time paid homage to Jackie Robinson by cutting the sleeves off his jersey.
Defying uniform rules, Sanders inspired his own iconic moment, with the rest of the Reds players following suit.

1997 @DeionSanders Vintage Reds Jerseys.
During @MLB Spring Training in 1997, Deion Sanders saw an image of Jackie Robinson on a cereal box, where his uniform featured shorter sleeves than modern jerseys. For the 50th anniversary season of Robinson breaking the color barrier, one legend decided to pay tribute to another.
Sanders emulated the look despite initial objections by MLB, until the Cincinnati Reds adjusted their road uniforms so the team could match Sanders’ shorter-sleeve look.
Prime Time’s 1997 season with the @Reds was arguably his peak in Major League Baseball. Playing in 115 games, Sanders hit .273, racking up 127 hits, 5 home runs, 23 RBI, and an impressive 56 stolen bases, ranking him among the top base stealers in the League that year.

El Toro es Eterno. 💙
Do you remember when a young left-hander from Sonora arrived in 1980? When he sparked the movement of Fernandomania and changed Baseball forever just a year later?
The high leg kick and the way the crowd would rise with every pitch made Fernando Valenzuela one of the most magnetic players the game had ever seen.
By the middle of the decade, Valenzuela delivered one of the most demanding “ironman” seasons of his career, winning 21 games and throwing 20 complete games, which even in the ’80s was becoming rare. Today it’s almost unheard of.
The gray Cooperstown road jersey returns with the 1980 MLB All-Star Game patch, honoring the Midsummer Classic hosted that year in Los Angeles. And 40 years later, the 1986 V-neck pullover jacket reflects the dugout style of the period when Valenzuela was firmly established as the Club’s ace.
