For me, sometimes the end of the year carries a bit of anxiety, especially for someone who works in freelance film. Its easy to wonder if you did enough, chose the right projects, or compare yourself to others or past years progress. And even when thereâs a strike or a pandemic going on, it can be hard to be gentle with yourself.
This piece, âAlways Hereâ was written to reconcile with those feelings of stagnancy. It was made very quickly after it was written a little while back with the incredible acting talents of @xtina_braa and @ryngtus , and shot beautifully by @b_tang and our amazing little crew.

CINEMATOGRAPHY WORK: âAre We Comfortable Yet?â
Throwback to this project with dir. @kristieandko from a bit ago, starring @thenextadventure and @justin_chien with @rjsiu as the assist. Color by đđťââď¸
We began this scene for The Show by @jessegi with a long panning/dolly shot which meant there was very little space to hide lights.
Thankfully, the fluorescents were somewhat close to daylight so we matched the color temp in camera and selectively shut off bulbs and blacked out windows. My gaffer @longle.film and key grip @admpain pushed a gelled 600D through diffusion outside the window add some mixed directional rim light (I wanted some reflection on the lockers/background in @jt_garcia_ âs shot) and we added lights that over the sides of the lockers in our overs to accentuate the practicals. It created a cool cross-shadow on @damonmckinnis which lent to the insidious and duplicitous nature of his character.
